The New York Times application for BlackBerry 10 is a fantastic news reader. Maybe some get discouraged by the premium subscriptions required for navigating beyond the main page. It looks like you can get New York Times unlimited access as a special promotion for BlackBerry 10 until June 26th! Head over to BlackBerry World and download the app to be enrolled while the offer lasts.

Some of you might be missing themes from the legacy BlackBerry devices as you have upgraded to a Z10 or Q10. S4BB makes it possible to get some customization to your home screen with their free application called Theme. We got the word that the application recently updated to version 1.3.0.4 adding a few new goodies:
- 10 new themes to choose from
- Choose images from your device
- Use a picture that was taken from your camera
The only thing I am particular about is that I would prefer having a separate image on the lock screen, as we are capable of doing so on other platforms such as iOS. This of course is not limited by the application, but more or so on the operating system itself. Either way, this is a great app to download to switch up your wallpapers and home screen look. Check out Theme by S4BB free in BlackBerry World today.

There are many flashlight applications for BlackBerry as we have been seeing for years and years. S4BB has a pretty decent free application with a one button interface and sleek UI. We got the word this morning that the Flashlight Pro application has updated with a fresh look and gives you the ability to have the light on solid or as a strobe light. Don’t get discouraged by the app title having “Pro” in it as it is still free. Features include:
- Flashlight goes on right when you open the app!
- Uses both the camera light and screen light as a flashlight.
- Camera light will never turn off! No time limit!
- Sets the brightness of the screen-light to full brightness for extra lighting.
- Useful help screen for quick reference.
- Sends out a SOS Morse Message in an endless loop by turning the camera light and screen light on and off according to the international Morse code.

Previously we were teased of the BlackBerry R-Series in individual screenshots, one of which appeared in red color. This time around, we get a better look at the device and see it side by side with Z10 and Q10 for comparison purposes. Furthermore, some specs of the device leaked out as well:
- 3.1-inch display, 720 x 720 resolution
- 5MP rear camera, front camera
- Support to shoot up to 2560 x 1920 resolution photos
- 2GB of RAM
- 8GB internal storage
- 1800 mAh non-removable Battery
- BlackBerry 10.1 OS
Interesting to see the screen resolution at 720 x 720, as some may have assumed it would be smaller. Hit the jump below to check out more leaked images.

For those who enjoyed Plants vs Zombies on other platforms, or PlayBook OS – the wait is over as BlackBerry 10 now is supported. The game has grown in popularity over the years through other platforms such as Android and iOS, so it was nice to see it come to BlackBerry eventually. Only downside is that if you purchased it on your BlackBerry PlayBook, you’ll have to buy it again on your Z10 for $2.99. I do know that sometimes we see apps that require separate purchases on tablets and their respective mobile devices, but it would have been nice to see fall under the same ownership as we’ve seen in other content in BlackBerry World. For now, get your game on for $2.99 on your BlackBerry Z10.
