Crazy but true story. Ehab (the “Digital Media Consultant” aka video maker and picture taker) and Kal, one of the daily PB editors were at a local Applebee’s where Ehab dropped his BlackBerry Storm 9530 face down in a dish of blue cheese. “I wish it was ranch,” said Ehab as he hates blue cheese and was actually waiting for ranch dressing to go with his boneless buffalo wings. Luckily, he had an OtterBox Defender covering his Storm which saved his life, or the Storm’s life rather. The Storm 9530 OtterBox comes stock with a clear screen cover that is attached to the front faceplate, preventing the blue cheese dip from making its way into the device. Moral of the story? Get an OtterBox!

I’ve been using the Commuter series case for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 for a few weeks now and have been very satisfied with it. As the Bold 9700 is a smaller and slimmer device, there’s room to add more “junk” to it as it can make it more comfortable to hold. But the Defender doesn’t just add extra layers to your BlackBerry for cosmetic appeal. Instead, maximum protection is provided through this industrious case. A few weeks ago we told you about OtterBox’s plans on releasing another series line of cases for mobile phones. Tonight’s the night as OtterBox will be officially announcing it and showing it off. Above is a teaser video to keep you at the tips of your toes for now. It’s a tough call what to expect at the moment.
As you all know, OtterBox started off with the Defender series which is the heavy duty three layer case to protect your BlackBerry in the worst case scenerios. Next we saw the Impact series which was just a high end silicon case with anti-shock pads inside. Later on the Commuter series released which was somewhere in between th Defender series and Impact as it wasnt too big, nor was it too small and thin. The Commuter series provides both silicion and hardshell wrapping around the phone protecting it and not making look so bulky.

The OtterBox is personally one of my favorite industrial cases for the BlackBerry. When I feel like having my phone naked, I’ll hook it up with a ZAGG Invisible Shield. A little while back, we told you about the BlackBerry Bold 9700 Commuter Series OtterBox launch. Later after that came the entry level Impact Series for it as well.We finally got our hands on it to see how well it went with the device. As you all know the Bold 9700 is very slim and a lot smaller than the original Bold. Infact, it is currently RIM’s slimmest QWERTY BlackBerry on the market. The Commuter is OtterBox’s mid-range case which is not as bulky as the Defender and not as slim as the Impact.

A few months ago, we were super excited to see the Commuter series cases release. The Defender series went great on the BlackBerry providing maximum protection and the Impact series did its job as well. We needed something in between the two, and that’s where the Commuter came in. Now we’re seeing that a whole new line of cases are going to be released as well but there is no telling what they are. We are hoping and assuming that the line will be out for the BlackBerry, but it is a matter of time until those details all get confirmed.

A few weeks ago, we told you about the availability of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 OtterBox Commuter series. Today we couldn’t help but notice that the Defender and Impact series are both there as well.
