The time has finally come after the one month postponed launch.  We got the official word from BlackBerry that Android and iOS will be getting BBM officially today.  To do so, BlackBerry provides the following steps to take:

  1. Download BBM – the easiest way is to visit BBM.com from your Android or iPhone browser*
  2. Once you install the app, open it, and enter your email address to hold your spot in line
  3. We will email you as soon as you reach the front of the line and can start using BBM

So there’s the small catch – yet a solution to control the large amount of users who will be signing up at a time.  BlackBerry will email you directly once you can start using BBM.  Hopefully the queue will not be long, and users can get up and running quickly.  In the meantime, keep checking BBM.com once BBM has been made available to download, the register your email right away to get in line.  Good luck to all!  Read more on the launch at the BlackBerry Blog

Just as we were teased of Skype launching for BlackBerry 10 in the past, Flipboard has taken the same approach here as well.  Their promotion is displayed in BlackBerry World letting folks know that their application is coming officially to select 10.2 devices.  With that said, we hope it is indeed a native application that is on its way.  Currently many users have sideloaded Android builds of Flipboard on their BlackBerry 10 devices, included myself.  It is a very smooth app to use for an Android sideload, but native is always a good way to go.  Any way, keep on the lookout for the official Flipboard application coming soon to BlackBerry World.
