Earlier this morning, BlackBerry CEO officially announced the BlackBerry Q5 – or as we knew it in the leaks as the R-series or R10.  This one’s supposed to be a more base model BlackBerry device, similar to the legacy BlackBerry Curve.  Also, it’s coming in four awesome colors: black, white, red and pink! We went hands on with it today and took a bunch of awesome pictures!  Hit the jump for the full gallery.

Previously we were teased of the BlackBerry R-Series in individual screenshots, one of which appeared in red color.  This time around, we get a better look at the device and see it side by side with Z10 and Q10 for comparison purposes.  Furthermore, some specs of the device leaked out as well:

  • 3.1-inch display, 720 x 720 resolution
  • 5MP rear camera, front camera
  • Support to shoot up to 2560 x 1920 resolution photos
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 8GB internal storage
  • 1800 mAh non-removable Battery
  • BlackBerry 10.1 OS

Interesting to see the screen resolution at 720 x 720, as some may have assumed it would be smaller.  Hit the jump below to check out more leaked images.

R10-redWe saw several leaked images of the BlackBerry R series in the past, which is the equivalent to the legacy BlackBerry Curve.  It is expected to rock slimmer specifications than the Z10 and Q10 such as lower resolution for instance.  In the screenshot above, you can already see it is probably a lower screen resolution, as the live tiles are much smaller and shorter.  I must say, this one does look good in red color, so definitely a nice attraction.  The spaced out keys also resemble the BlackBerry Curve series, as the Bold and Q10 do have the keys placed together.  The image leaked from Instagram, as the person who posted it makes mention of a Q3 launch of this device.  Would you pick one up?

The BlackBerry Q10 has been getting a lot of buzz lately as the world has seen BlackBerry 10 OS, but curious to see it along with a real physical QWERTY keyboard.  Surely there are dedicated BlackBerry users waiting on this device.  It looks like the device is available for pre-order at Rogers, Future Shop, Telus and Best Buy.  Check out the links below for each individual spot to place your order!  Now if only we can get some word for the US launch.  Several hints and brief statements suggest a May launch for the United States, but we’ll probably be seeing more into this later this month.

BlackBerry 10 is yet official, but employees at RIM are rocking the OS on their Dev Alpha devices.  The folks over at CrackBerry were able to attend a BlackBerry 10 Jam session, where a RIM employee was kind enough to share his device with their cameras.  In these screenshots you’ll see more of the new home screen, keyboard with predictive text to swipe up and more.

It looks like some screenshots of what’s ready so far of BlackBerry 10 have been leaked out.  The folks over at Know Your Mobile and Cnet put up some photos of the device where we get a closer look at the homescreen and overall user interface.  In addition, we see the BBM application swiped from the right side.  So far everything looks clean, but we want to get more of a hands on already!  Currently developers have the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha, but the OS does not resemble BlackBerry 10, and more or so of a miniature version of PlayBook OS.

So obviously the first BlackBerry 10 smartphone is going to be all touchscreen, but RIM emphasized that they will continue making QWERTY keyboard devices as well.  It looks like their latest patent shows off a unique keyboard sporting larger buttons than usual.  I guess it’s for those with chubby fingers who struggle with smaller keys.  So far we’ve only seen Bold style keys which are all stuck together and Curve keys which are spaced out between each key.  You can read up more on the patent details here.
