Not so long ago I did an in depth review on SmrtGuard. Given that I loved the app, I decided to try a similar one, smaller and more basic.  Everyone’s issue is memory these days.  Not everyone, but those who have their BlackBerry smartphones crunched with lots of emails and apps.  Memory becomes less of an issue these days with the newer BlackBerry devices out with their extended memory.  So BuddyGuard is pretty much a lighter version of SmrtGuard doing some similar taskts.

We’ve mentioned this application before and let you know of its new features allowing you to scan 1D and 2D barcodes now. A lot of you think you have full out barcode scanning capabilities on your BlackBerry smartphones, but I’m here to tell you you’re wrong!  Once you get over it and realize you don’t have the full capabilities, check out the latest version of ScanLife which allows you to scan all sorts of barcodes including those that you see for BlackBerry Messenger contacts and groups, standard 2D ones, and of course UPC which is the most famous on all sorts of retail items.  There’s the free and premium version of ScanLife, so head over to the ScanLife website to check out details.  Both versions have its ups and downs, but if you’re just looking to use it every now and then, get the free edition as it limits you to scanning 1000 items (that’s a lot and should be plenty). If you’ve made up your mind already, hit the link below to download over the air.

It’s about time! We’ve been in beta for WeatherEye 2.0 for quite some time now, and months later finally the official build launches.  Overall, the app looks a little bit different as it did a face lift. So what’s new in 2.0?

  • Redesigned GUI
  • Multiple Locations
  • Hourly forecasts
  • POP in long term forecast
  • Maps (not sure what for, though)

WeatherEye is a freebie app available at the BlackBerry App World, If you’re like me using BerryWeather, this is a cool one to try out, but don’t expect all the cool radar maps and awesome features here.

We just got the word from the folks over at HandCase that they have just released a beta mobile search engine called Gune.  So day in and out you use Google or other popular search engines such as Bing.  What if you could combine both search results in one?  Gune brings you search results from both Google and Bing in a single screen so you won’t have to go crazy using various search engines.

BerryWeather is one of the most popular best selling weather applications available for BlackBerry.  Recently they updated to version 2.0, adding a lot of new features.  They have just released BeWeather Free to the BlackBerry App World as a freebie version of BerryWeather and/or BeWeather.  The application is completely ad-free with some nice options as well.  You can keep track up to three different locations receiving 5 day forecasts.  There a lot more options on BeWeather including 7 day forecasts, radar maps, web cam support, and much more.  Either way, definitely check out BeWeather Free over at the BlackBerry App World.
