Did you go to BlackBerry Live this year? What did you think? Was it what you expected? What did you experience? BlackBerry did an excellent job this year at BlackBerry Live, and they kept it moving. The energy was really high at BlackBerry Live, and the only way you weren’t feeling anything is if you flat lined from all the excitement. From all over the world BlackBerry fanatics, elites, consumers, students, business users, owners, vendors, and even the skeptics showed up to see what BlackBerry was up to! (more…)

As we attended BlackBerry Jam 2013 this past week, we had the opportunity to attend the keynote live. The introduction of the keynote was rather entertaining and comical as it included a funny 6 minute clip with BlackBerry “judges” including Alec Saunders, Christopher Smith and Marty Mallick. It takes you through developers approaching the judges pitching “good ideas” for applications. You’ll have to watch it for yourselves and get a good laugh out of it! Another great marketing piece for BlackBerry developers. Hit the jump for the full video.

With the recent announcement of BlackBerry going cross platform has sent a shockwave throughout BlackBerry Nation. Some are for this new idea, while others are against it, and many others just don’t know what to think ; and this is only what I have encountered at BlackBerry Live. I haven’t gotten to the tweets, or the BBM’s or text or even Facebook notifications from friends, family, and curious consumers asking me if the news is true and why. I must say I was a little skeptical at first, and I spent a lot of Tuesday thinking about the pros and cons and both sides. After all was said and done I think I have put some sense to the shocking news.

During the BlackBerry Live Keynote yesterday, BlackBerry CEO demonstrated BB10 in the automotive industry – in the specific use case, it was a Bentley. We got to see a cool demonstration of BBM Video in the car, where video only works when parked. Once the car moves, it will only be audio. Very similar to other cars with multimedia systems such as DVD Players; once the car starts moving it switches to audio only. Any way, we paid the Bentley a visit yesterday in the Solutions Showcase where many vendors were exhibited (stay tuned later as we go around visiting everyone and sharing our findings). Anyway, hit the jump below to check out the full gallery of the Bentley equipped with BlackBerry 10. We couldn’t get a live demo on it just yet – but hopefully the kind folks are open to the idea tonight where we’ll definitely share some feed with you guys.

BlackBerry Live in Orlando Florida has been full of great news, great energy, and great people. We have has some great speakers take the stage. One of the biggest surprises for me which was some what expected was the fact that Alicia Keys was one of the speakers at the Keynote. I knew she would be there but I thought it was just going to be for the performance at BlackBerry Live. However, to see her speak at the BlackBerry Live keynote was a real treat. Alicia Keys made some great announcements such as the next generation of the Keep Moving Project would be launching in the fall, and that BlackBerry Scholars Program would kick off this next school, and was put in place to help young women all across the world get the education they need to succeed in the tech field. Alicia Keys is very committed to getting women involved in tech.

I’m sure this subject is all in your face since the initial announcement during the BlackBerry Live 2013 Keynote earlier today. For those who missed out, the Thorsten Heins officially announced BBM to go cross platform to Android and iOS. We tweeted out to our followers to see what people’s thoughts were and definitely got mixed opinions. We’d like to get more feedback from everyone as to how they feel about BBM hitting other platforms.

I have always been big on taking pictures from my BlackBerry and I have a little secret to share with you all. I have only used a digital camera maybe a handful of times over the last decade. I get confused with all the settings that are on a digital camera but you put a BlackBerry in my hand and I can get you some really nice shots (in my opinion). The camera has improved on the BlackBerry handsets from the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 1.3 megapixel camera to the 5 megapixel on the 9900 Bold to the 8 megapixel camera on the new BlackBerry Z10. Along with improvements to the camera there has also been greater improvements to the scene modes and abilities to the new line of devices. Possibilities are endless for pictures and videos on the BlackBerry Z10. (more…)

Usually we never came across messages like this in the past as applications were not large in size on the previous BlackBerry platform. However, now we have the luxuries of higher end content and games with rich graphics. This morning I was attempting to download a game on the train ride to work and noticed the disclaimer that I would need a WiFi connection. I was in no way pissed over it since I’ve seen the same behavior on iOS.
