Jim Balsamic is back once again! For those who don’t recall or never had it in the past, a BBM spam message was circulating around stating that RIM would be charging money for BBM if you did not forward the message. The message was supposedly from a “Jim Balsamic” which is similar to the RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie. Now Jim Balsamic is back with a whole new spam message. This time it is suggesting to forward the BBM message due to an overload of the service. And if you decide not to, you’ll be kicked off BBM! Any who, here’s the full spam message:
Bbm is shutting down at. 12:00. 0clock tonight if you don’t broadcast this you’ll loose your contact. Message from Jim Balsamic (CEO of RIM. Blackberry) we have had an over usage of user names on Blackberry Messenger. We are requesting all users to forward this message to their entire contact list. If you do not forward this message, we will take it as your account is invalid and it will be deleted within the next 48 hours.

The other day a rumor arose stating that a 10 inch BlackBerry PlayBook is on the way. We heard this rumor a while back, but then later was said to be cancelled. Now that the rumor has started cooking again, it gets us thinking if it is at all necessary to go 10 inch. Surely it’s a nice alternative for those who desire a iPad sized tablet, but personally I find 7 inches to be perfect and ideal for travel.
Also, RIM should be focusing primarily on their new smartphone lineup which includes BlackBerry 10 devices, don’t you think? Let us know your thoughts!

A couple of years ago, it became fashionable to get these invisible BBM avatars which couldn’t really be seen until highlighted. All you would see is the outline of the default character. Any way, animated avatars on BlackBerry Messenger is the new fad since the last update of the app supports it. There’s a website made just for that! Head over to BBM-Animated.com and get all the animated avatars for BBM for free.

Up until December 31st, all BlackBerry customers were able to download free applications in BlackBerry App World which RIM promoted for free as a thank you gift for staying a customer. This resulted after a major BIS outage which received negative publicity and even ended with RIM’s co-CEO apologizing on camera. In time of course, services were restored and we were all able to BBM and email just fine.

I’m so lucky I’m your BlackBerry!
You hold me with both hands gently as u could be.
You ensure that I am always with you.
If I fall you are afraid of my injury.
I always have your undivided attention, you get upset if others disturb our time together.
U can never forget me in a taxi & u won’t let me go unlike my old friends nokia, sony and sammy that u would proudly just hand over.
When u eat, I’m beside u. When u r on the toilet, I’m with u. When u are asleep! my head is by ur pillow. (more…)

A few months back we noticed a Themes category surface in BlackBerry App World for the BlackBerry PlayBook. A few days ago, I noticed the category was back again. The only sub category in the Themes tab is “Holiday” and includes an app called “Christmas Tunes.” Not sure where they’re going with this one, but it definitely is a bit confusing and seems unnecessary as of now.

So Research In Motion is facing a lot of public negativity now with the delays of BlackBerry 10 smartphones. This cartoon by The Joy of Tech pokes at the idea that RIM’s BlackBerry devices are outdated and that there is no future for them. It’s a funny cartoon though but we still want our BB10 devices!

Sweet! We had the BlackBerry PlayBook come fresh out the box with Need For Speed Undercover for free. Now we see some inspiration went further as the new game Need for Speed The Run features the BlackBerry PlayBook in the car’s console. Good choice for a tablet I’d say. So it might not be the exact PlayBook, but surely looks just like it. What’s your take? Video after the jump.

So the mobile hotspot feature finally leaked out last week in an OS 7.1 build for the BlackBerry Bold 9900. It’s still an early build and we hope to see better stability in the future. So I was curious to see how well it would do hotspotting to my PlayBook while having Bridge connected and using it as I normally would. That includes moderate email usage, BBM messaging (replies as they come) and web browsing. Oh yes, and I downloaded N.O.V.A. 2 HD which actually finished in under 20 minutes (impressive). My battery started off at full of course and in a matter of three hours I was in the red zone ready to charge again.
So lesson learned, I’m going to need to stack up on my 9900 spare batteries or get some kind of extended battery or charging case for the thing if I’m going to indulge in WiFi hotspotting and overdose on Bridge (as I do now keeping it on all day).
