To date, I’ve never had an official OS update come to BlackBerry 10 when already on a leaked OS.  To my understanding, you would need to be on an official OS to receive official OS updates.  Today something weird happened on my build – an update available for which has been available for some time now showed up available on my Z30 today.  I searched around the forums and really didn’t find any solid on this, so figured I’d reach out and see if anyone else on an older leaked build has received the same update or heard of this before.

Downloading as we speak – 538MB in size!

Ever since BlackBerry Live and the announcement that 10.1 would be rolling out in May. I have been patiently waiting (just like many others) for 10.1 to roll out. While others who couldn’t wait went for the 10.1 leaks I’ve been pressing that “Check For Update” button everyday to see if 10.1 has finally been released, and today it finally has. Well it has at least for T-Mobile USA. You can grab version today. If you haven’t received an alert, then head over to your Settings > Software Update > Check For Updates.

Starting today, users in North America will be getting OS 10.1 officially available to download over the air.  However, this will go through the end of the week, which is probably targeted more towards US carriers whom are always last at these updates.  BlackBerry CEO Thorsten makes mention of Skype for 10.1.  See below for full highlights on BlackBerry 10.1:

BlackBerry Hub manages all of your conversations

BlackBerry Hub helps you stay organized, in control and on top of all of your conversations, and with BlackBerry 10.1, it just keeps getting better. You can now view emails that are attached to another email, get contact suggestions when you start addressing a message, and send PIN to PIN messages for direct communication between BlackBerry smartphones.

At last, AT&T customers who currently hold the BlackBerry Z10 can enjoy an awesome OS update today.  This one’s higher than the usual at  Also, the update is 732MB, not the average incremental update we’d expect with all other carriers pushing out 150MB at a time or so.  I just got around to update this moments ago, and the update didn’t take long to complete, other than the download for a half hour, but the device seems a bit more responsive when switching between applications and my Calendar app certainly does not crash anymore which is always nice.  Oh yea, the AT&T applications that have been preloaded as well unfortunately..

To grab this update, just head over to Software Updates in options and you’ll be on your way! You’ll need to stay plugged in and a solid WiFi connection.
