ProSights for BlackBerry PlayBook just launched in App World today.  It brings you an awesome way of checking out LinkedIn, as you can seen in the screenshots.  The app will download data from your LinkedIn account, then make it into this unique and very user friendly graphic interface.  Features include:

  • Connection Explorer– The crux of ProInsights is the Connection Explorer feature, which displays your connections in four convenient and interactive views and is an absolute visual delight. One look at the screenshots and you’ll know what we mean!
    • Card Deck: Has the look and feel of a rolodex. Flip through a business-card view of your connections.
    • Mosaic: Take a trip down memory lane and leaf through a photo-album of your connections
    • Bird Eye: Get a bird’s eye view on your connections plotted geographically on a map. You might just discover that you have a contact in Uganda you had added ages back!
    • Spring Graph: Gives you a closer look at your Inner Circle. View your contacts in node clusters that link to you by the number of connections that they have. Move your connections around in this highly interactive spring-like view!
  • IntelliSearch – Trying to find contacts of yours from the Food Industry? Or a marketing expert maybe? Just type in a keyword on ProInsights’ very own search engine- IntelliSearch- and find the people you are looking for! True to its name, IntelliSearch does an intensive search on your connections and thus helps you zero in on the most relevant connections.

ProSights is currently $9.99 to purchase from BlackBerry App World.  Yes, a bit on the expensive side, but you certainly get what you pay for here.

Some BlackBerry 7 users were experiencing registration issues with QuickLaunch recently.  It looks like NikkiSoft took care of that issue as I personally stopped having it pop up every few hours when launching the app and there’s been some updates for it as well.  Now in version 4.2.0 we see bug fixes and new features.

New features included:

  • QL Schedule Reboot will now reboot yoru device if you password lock your phone.  Click on the ‘Click here to enter your pw..’ in the options page.

lockscreen playbook

Here’s an application we’ve seen on BlackBerry smartphones in the past, but never before on the BlackBerry PlayBook.  LockScreen by TwoPinStudio brings the “slide to unlock” feature to the BlackBerry PlayBook.  Now for the downside- it’s just an app.  Meaning you can still swipe up to get out of it.  I guess it’s cool for those who want to come off as an iPad or just to have that “feature.”  You be the judge.  It’s 99 cents to buy at BlackBerry App World.

film 1film 2

Film is an application for the BlackBerry PlayBook that reminds me of IMDB on Android and iOS.  Maybe that’s the direction it’s trying to go.  With Film, you can check out featured films, what’s in theaters, movies coming up, the newest movies, or just a manual search.  Watching movie trailers is a click away and works instantly.  It doesn’t reroute to your browser for YouTube or any of that, but has a built-in media player instead.  It’s 99 cents to buy but definitely worth it for those who enthuse over movies.
