We told you about the launch of the new skins from dbrand Inc last month! Well we got our hands on a few of these skins for our BlackBerry Z10, and what better place to show them off , then BlackBerry Live. I must admit when I first heard about these skins I was really excited, but shortly after getting my skins I got really nervous. How was I going to get these skins on. I’m very picky. If it was put on crooked or I didn’t have it lined up then what would I do.

One of my most used cases for the BlackBerry Z10 is the Transform Hard Shell, which is an OEM case from BlackBerry and sports some cool functionality. It’s bundled with a screen protector as well which came as a surprise since it isn’t really advertised as included.

While testing out many different cases, the one thing I hated was losing the actual feel of a device. Let’s face it – cases can make your device bulky. The Transform gives you access to all of your buttons including power and volume keys. The protection on the sides covers all four corners which wedge up beyond the screen. In a very modest drop test (on carpet since I’m not brave for the real deal) I noticed the impact of falling on just the corner or side which is very protective for moderate drops. Of course you won’t be getting the same protection as an Otterbox which comes strings attached with bulkiness.

For those of you who may know I was selected as BlackBerry Fan Of The Month For September 2012! One of the reasons why I was selected (besides being a die hard BlackBerry fan boy) was because of my photography. I have always loved taking pictures from my BlackBerry devices since the BlackBerry Pearl 8100. As each release of a new device or a new OS has launched their have been more and more improvements to the media capability especially the camera. Some devices now have cameras with auto-focus,  and various scene modes to capture pictures in its natural beauty such as beach, snow, landscape, night, party, and text (to name a few). Mobile devices have really changed the way we use technology, especially with the applications that are being developed and launched. The most popular app has been instagram; however, on the BlackBerry platform there have been many other photo editing and sharing apps that have been making its way on the scene such.

Being a photographer and only taking pictures from my BlackBerry I’ve always wanted to be able to do more. I’m always looking to take my photography to the next level. I’ve always wanted to use various lenses to enhance my photographs. Which to my surprise I was introduced to a website that was just as in love with photography as I was called Photojojo. Photojojo.com scour the internet, rip pages out of magazines, ransack our friends’ closets, and go through dumpsters to find the very best Photo tips, DIY projects, and Gear. My buddy Robert showed me that they were selling these awesome photo lenses for mobile devices and they look great. Photojojo offers a great deal on 3 lenses for $50. They include a fisheye lens (capture 180- hemispherical degrees), telephoto (2x zoom without get pixelated pictures), and a 2 in 1 wide/macro lens (wide angle and macro for extremely close up shots). I don’t think I have to write anything else about these lenses, I’ll let them show you what they do! So check out the photos below from my journey with these amazing lenses. (more…)

There’s a wide variety of cases and covers for the BlackBerry PlayBook.  Ballistic has provided cases for BlackBerry smartphones in the past and of course support the PlayBook too.  For a few weeks I’ve been using the Tough Jacket case by Ballistic on my PlayBook.  One thing you need to know about the Tough Jacket, is that it provides maximum protection for the PlayBook and does bulk it up quite a bit.  Similar to OtterBox products, the Tough Jacket provides a three layer solution:

  • Layer 1 – Inner silicone layer absorbs shock
  • Layer 2 – Impact resistant hard plastic protects the BlackBerry PlayBook
  • Layer 3 – Shock Absorbent polymer layer

With hundreds of Bluetooth headsets on the market, picking the wrong headset is a common mistake. It is not an easy choice cyphering through all the options to find the right headset for you. As far as Bluetooth headsets go, there is a newer and better solution day in and day out but one headset offers a feature another may not. One headset that seems to pack all the right punches without compromise is the Sound-ID 510. Sound-ID is one of those companies that are less heard of but have been around since the turn of the century. The company has developed headsets in the past but all with the dedication to their mission statement “combining deep knowledge of the human ear with cutting-edge Bluetooth technology and patented adaptive noise compensation techniques.” The company was founded by an Otologist which proves they have a dedicated to pursuit to delivering perfection in sound via Bluetooth. One of their latest products which we will deeply cover in this review is the Sound-ID 510.

OtterBox has been my favorite line of BlackBerry cases for years now.  I was excited to see them roll out a Commuter case for the BlackBerry Torch 9800 from the very beginning.  Impressively, the design was sleek, fitting the Torch well and still maintaining the whole OtterBox look even though this was a slider BlackBerry unlike any other device we’ve seen before from RIM.  Hit the jump for some quick impressions on the BlackBerry Torch 9800 Commuter case.

I don’t know about all of you but I use my BlackBerry for my mobile MP3-age.  Maybe not all the time, but when I am on the road, or traveling somewhere, I do go about it.  Certainly many of you own iPods on the side to handle all your music but in the end everybody uses headphones or earbuds.  Over the past month, I’ve been testing out the Wicked Empire Lucky earbuds to see how well they worked on the go in crowded areas, or even in quiet spots zoned out.  So we decided to do a quick review here walking through some general specifics on them.  Keep in mind we are BlackBerry people, so if there’s anything in the review you’d like to know or want us to add in, kindly drop us a line.

Just yesterday we received the all new BlackBerry Wireless Headset HS-700 in to check out.  We had all day to play around with it and try it out.  So with that said, a review was more than ready to be in play.  The HS-700 is one of the most unique Bluetooth headsets I have ever used.  I have a lot of friends that have trouble using these wireless headsets due to trouble pairing, lack of battery life, and all other sorts of nonsense.  The HS-700 takes Bluetooth wireless headsets to a whole new level with amazing options, features, and of course a very sleek design.
