Music WithMe Updated – Support for iTunes Playlist Folders & More

We just got the word from Parkvu that Music WithMe just got a new big update. From what I see so far, the biggest seems to be the support for iTunes playlist folders. Here’s the full update list below or just hit the jump for the full press release from Parkvu.

Louisville, KY — July 29, 2010 — ParkVu, innovators in making media truly mobile, today announced new features and significant user experience enhancements for the Music WithMe BlackBerry* app. Simplifying music listening for a new generation of music lovers who want all their music on their smartphone, anytime, anywhere, Music WithMe wirelessly syncs users’ iTunes playlists with their BlackBerry, via a cellular or Wi-Fi connection. No longer tethered to cables or a secondary music playing device, Music WithMe provides an easy way for smartphone owners to have their favorite music with them on the go.

BlackBerry owners love that they can get all their iTunes music on their smartphone wirelessly – and they can use their BlackBerry media player for playback,” said Jeff Fedor, co-CEO of ParkVu. “With the user in mind we have introduced new features to Music WithMe including an enhanced sync experience, making it even easier for BlackBerry owners to leave their digital music player at home and use their smartphone as their primary music listening device.”

Using a cellular network or Wi-Fi connection, Music WithMe automatically and wirelessly downloads music files from users’ iTunes collection to their BlackBerry smartphone. Now with the latest version, BlackBerry owners can track the status of their downloads. For each playlist, for example, users can see how many tracks have been uploaded to the cloud and how many have yet to be uploaded from iTunes. In addition, Music WithMe now has the ability to sync music libraries that are stored in network attached storage locations.

Music WithMe allows for remote wireless syncing and, unlike streaming solutions, once music is downloaded, no wireless connection is required meaning no more data is used – saving money and battery power and providing a dependable music listening experience regardless of cellular reception. Tracks are dowloaded directly to the BlackBerry memory card and are played as usual.

From within the app, users select which iTunes playlists they want stored on their BlackBerry smartphone. Music WithMe then works with iTunes on the PC to ensure that any changes made to the playlists are automatically reflected on their BlackBerry smartphone.

Music WithMe does not have to be open on the device to sync with iTunes. When the desired playlists are selected, the settings are stored directly on the BlackBerry smartphone. Using BlackBerry smartphone’s native media player, users can listen to their favorite songs from iTunes directly on their device.

Evernote for BlackBerry updated – Better Native Viewing & Network Fixes

I wasn’t huge on Evernote for a while because I found no need for it at the time. Ever since my iPad days started, I found it really convenient to have my notes remotely saved and easily accessible whether I was on my BlackBerry or iPad. We got the word from Lifehacker that they have just updated the Evernote BlackBerry app addressing some issues including:

A native BlackBerry note list and note viewer (no more launching the browser).
Improved networking and hopefully addresses some of the of the networking troubles some of you have encountered.

As the BlackBerry application is not nearly as nice as the one on iPad, I am pretty confident to see what will come of the app once the BlackBerry 9800 Slider hits the streets. Hit the links below to download the latest beta from Evernote to see these new features in play.

New Xobni for BlackBerry Beta Released – LinkedIn Integration, Performance, & More

This is under private beta for the time being now, but we decided to let you know what’s new in this version. As a quick recap for those who don’t know what this application is, Xobni is a very powerful email utility that works with Microsoft Outlook keeping your contacts readily available all the time. It’s a great way of having access to your contacts if you use Outlook a lot and would like emails and contacts to transfer over through an app via BlackBerry.

UberTwitter Beta 8 Launched – New UI & Lots of New Features

Throughout every version of UberTwitter that has been launched, tons of features get added. Perhaps this is why UberTwitter ends up being the best Twitter application for BlackBerry with everything it has to offer. The change log is much to large so just as a highlight, the biggest deals we saw here was UberChannels, Instapaper integration, the new UI of course, muting users instead of unfollowing, Twitvid library search, and much more. List Search – Use keywords to search for lists you are most interested in, finally a way to find lists!
Uber Bar Enhancements
InstaPaper integration – Save tweets to instapaper for later reading
Added the TMI.ME service as the default for sending longer then 140 characters, besides the fact that it has THE best URL name for the job, there is also no need to confirm that you want to send a longer tweet.
Added support for inline viewing of Twitsnap.com photos.
Ability to unblock a user
View the list of your tweets that have been retweeted, then highlight one of those tweets and view who has retweeted it
Saved searchs – finally, yes, we integrate with the saved searches on the twitter web site, plus you can add them to the uber bar!
Muting Users – You asked, and now its there, select ‘Mute Users’ from the menu where you can manage the list of users that you just don’t want to hear from for a while. You can mute them forever (but why not just unfollow?) Or, you can specify how many days before the muting ‘expires’ and you start viewing their tweets again. (Shout out to @jasonbirch for the expiration idea!) You can optionally notify the user that you have muted them and it will also tell them when it will expire.
Added the ability to go directly to a users profile from the menu when you highlight one of their tweets
Reorganized the menu to hopefully be more clear
Added more information to a users profile
Saved searches…finally! - Yes – open search and towards the bottom you can see your saved searchs
Highlight a saved search to add it to the uber bar
After running a search, from the menu you can add it to your saved searches
Implemented new TwitVid library which uses Oauth, should be faster, but don’t have hard numbers yet.
Added a conversation view timeline – When you view a tweet that is a reply to another, and click the conversation icon, it will open a timeline which will pull up the entire conversation from that point backward. Seems somewhat slow in doing this, as it has to make a call back to twitter for each tweet, looking into this.
This version uses Twitter’s new Oauth authentication scheme which will allow you to change the username/password on twitter.com and not have to worry about doing the same in ubertwitter.

Google Voice for BlackBerry Updates to 0.2.0.2 – No Change Log

No change log once again. It’s not like we expected one with the small update in numbers any way. So now that many of you are on Google Voice since it’s open to the public, you all can now update the app. We’re sure this update consists of small bug fixes if that. How much longer will it be in beta for? Look how long Gmail sat in beta and then you’ll stop counting the days.

SugarSync v1.5 Adds Streaming Music to BlackBerry App

SugarSync is a very popular app used for backups of data. The application then got extended to BlackBerry which seemed to be very limited as it didn’t do as much as the desktop app did. Last time around in February, SugarSync added the “upload by email” feature.We got the word from Ronen over at BerryReview that they have just updated their BlackBerry application with some nice new features:

Music Streaming: Now, stream all your tunes from the cloud. Even cooler – you aren’t limited to one song at a time. Foursquare for BlackBerry Updates to v1.9 – New Features & Bug Fixes

It’s been a while since we saw an update from Foursquare, but during the BlackBerry App World event in NYC that we attended, the PR folks did mention that a new update would be coming within about a month. So here it is at last, as promised by the Foursquare team. Here’s the full new list of updates:

Sort Checkins – Quickly sort your nearby check-ins by time (most recent check-in) or by distance (closest check-in).
Photo Upload – Now change/upload a profile photo via your BlackBerry!
See Specials Nearby – Now you can see what venues feature specials when searching for what’s nearby.
BlackBerry Maps Integration – From a venue details page, click on the Google map tile and automatically get launched into BlackBerry maps.
Improved Battery Life – foursquare is always focused on battery performance and has made a few improvements.
Improved Location Support – Additional improvements have been made to location, allowing for better location support when checking in.
Small Tweaks & Fixes – foursquare is always listening to user feedback and making small fixes & tweaks along the way.
Note from Mac: app seems to move a lot quicker than before but it could just be me!

BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.1.32 Now Available in Beta Zone

Theres’ a new beta update for BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.1.32 in in the Beta Zone as it has released late last night for folks tuned in. I personally gave up on beta BBM for the time being, and I may go forward in trying this one as I have been told some bugs have been fixed and addressed here. You folks make that judgement when trying it so simply log in to the BlackBerry Beta Zone today to upgrade your BBM.

Bolt Browser Updates to v2.11 – No Change Log

Opera Mini Browser Updates to v5.1 – Optimized for Lower Memory Devices

As I don’t traditionally use Opera Mini, I found out from Ronen at BerryReview that it just got an update that may help out some of you retro BlackBerry owners. According to the press release, Opera Mini v5.1 has been optimized to work better with lower memory devices, enabling the feature of having multiple tabs open at the same time.
