Falling Fred & More Games by Union now supported on PlayBook OS 2.0

When I first installed BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Beta, I opened up Falling Fred to play and noticed the game crashed every time right before entering actual game play. Then enough apps weren’t working at the time that drove me to restoring back to an official PlayBook operating system. I noticed that Falling Fred and a few other games by Union have updated today. With this update, the games started working on PlayBook OS 2.0 as I have that installed on my second PlayBook. This can only mean BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 is officially rolling out soon, at last!

BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing v3.0 goes official in the US, Canada & UK

RIM officially released BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing v3.0 today in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. For those unaware of this application, it’s designed to make joining and schedule conference calls easy. Key features include:

Join Now Button– The BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing app adds a button to calendar reminders on your BlackBerry smartphone that can dial you in to a call with one click. If the invite includes multiple dial-in numbers for different locations, the app can choose the most appropriate one for you (within Canada, the US and the UK only).

Reconnect – Reconnect with one click if you’re disconnected or need to drop off a conference call.

Easy Conference Scheduling – You can schedule a conference call complete with conference bridge details directly from the BlackBerry Calendar in an easy two-step process. To enable this capability, you can set your conference call profile once in the BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing app, including dial-in numbers and access codes, and then simply add the profile as part of the calendar invitation. (The moderator code is kept hidden from participants in the calendar invitation.) Many of the leading audio conferencing systems are supported.

Optimal Conference Call Number Selection – If multiple dial-in numbers are provided to accommodate participants in different regions, the application can automatically choose an optimal number to use, such as using the local number if you’re within the local calling area rather than a toll-free number; or a toll-free number if the dial-in number would otherwise be long distance. You can also select or modify a specific dial-in number manually.

Convert an email to a meeting invite – Help put an end to long email threads by scheduling a conference call with email participants with just a few clicks. The sender and recipients of the email are included as meeting attendees, the email subject becomes your meeting subject and part of the email message is copied into your invite automatically. Just add your conference call details from a stored profile, click send and you’re set.

SMS Bridge Gets Another Update- Now includes auto-restart feature

We first told you about SMS Bridge back in August, and its ability to bridge your text messages to your BlackBerry PlayBook. Over the months we have watch this app add some really cool features, and with SMS Bridges latest update to version 13.18 it adds an auto-restart feature. When your BlackBerry smartphone reboots it automatically turns SMS Bridge on, so for those who always keeps their BlackBerry bridged this is a great feature for you. The app (for first time users) is reasonably priced at $3.99.

Gameloft updates N.O.V.A. 2 HD, Let’s Golf 2 HD & UNO HD to v2.0 for BlackBerry PlayBook

There doesn’t seem to be any change logs here, but Gameloft has gone ahead and updated some of its popular BlackBerry PlayBook games including N.O.V.A. 2 HD, Let’s Golf 2 HD and UNO HD. All three of these games have been updated to version 2.0. Perhaps this update is for BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0, although the games seem to be working fine on the beta. Either way, the updates are in App World. Grab them!

Jotsy for BlackBerry PlayBook updated to v2.0

A couple months ago, Jotsy Beta was available in BlackBerry App World for a limited time. ~~If you didn’t grab it when it was available then you missed out and can’t get in BlackBerry App World now.~~ Version 2.0 of the beta just took off including some cool features:

Bug fixes related to document scrolling, loading, and Wifi connectivity
Ability to sync and access documents stored locally on your PC
PC based access to documents stored on any of your box.com accounts
Upload annotated PDFs to your PC or box.com account for further distribution
“Bear Paw” navigation for easy access to text boxes, highlight styles, and pen colors
Individual or global removal of annotations

Angry Farm for BlackBerry updated to v1.1.31

Angry Farm for BlackBerry updated a couple days ago to version 1.1.31. Included in this update is 50 brand new levels and a “dynamite” bundle in the game used to blow up the barn where all the foxes are. You can buy the dynamited within the game itself. Otherwise, the game remains to be an excellent Angry Birds clone for BlackBerry smartphones. Monopoly for BlackBerry PlayBook gets a small update to v1.0.63

Monopoly is one of the best games to play with friends on the BlackBerry PlayBook. Originally it was seen on the Apple iPad as a hit game, and of course now BlackBerry PlayBook users got the same exact fix. Monopoly got a small update to version 1.0.63, where there doesn’t seem to be a change log for it. If you have Monopoly for the BlackBerry PlayBook and notice anything new, let us know! If you don’t have it yet, make sure you grab a copy at BlackBerry App World.

UberSocial for BlackBerry updated to v1.308

UberSocial for BlackBerry smartphones got a small update today to version 1.308. Included in this update was mainly fixes. One was for 3G/BIS connection loss after starting UberSocial. The other was the use of the carrier data plan even though BIS is configured in settings. Some users may not have noticed any exceptions with this, but the update is available for those who experienced it.

Animated Avatars for BBM updated to v1.2

Yesterday we let you know about the Animated Avatar application for BBM which brought all animated avatars in an easy user interface. Some suggest an app is useless when you can go to a mobile site and download them that way, while others prefer applications for everything. The choice is yours! Either way, the Animated Avatar for BBM app has updated to version 1.2 adding easier navigation to the app, a refresh/update button so you can see if new avatars have been uploaded, and general bug fixes.

Doodle Blast Launches Free Upgrade With In App Purchases

We reviewed Doodle Blast last April which is a really cool game for the BlackBerry PlayBook. The concept of the game is simple. Guide the marbles into the jar with a limited amount of ink. Well looks like Flexible Air has updated Doodle Blast now offering more levels. They have also made some cosmetic updates to the games as well.

The cool thing is they are offering 30 more levels in this update. The catch is it’s two app packs of 15 levels a piece for $0.99. That really is a pretty good deal! So why not take advantage of an awesome game, and if you like the game then buy the next 15 levels!
