File Commander For BlackBerry PlayBook Gets Updated

We mentioned File Commander for BlackBerry PlayBook before, and it looks like it is receiving another update to version 2.0. Some of these new features in this update are:

much better performance and speed
sorting by date
directories
files counting
improved file details
displays free space on your PlayBook
some new file format support
minor UI changes
bug fixes

For those of you who aren’t familiar with File Commander, here is a brief overview. File Commander is a file managing app for the BlackBerry PlayBook. With such ease in use, and access to files on BlackBerry device when it is “bridged” makes this a must have application for your PlayBook. Falling Fred & More Games by Union now supported on PlayBook OS 2.0

When I first installed BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Beta, I opened up Falling Fred to play and noticed the game crashed every time right before entering actual game play. Then enough apps weren’t working at the time that drove me to restoring back to an official PlayBook operating system. I noticed that Falling Fred and a few other games by Union have updated today. With this update, the games started working on PlayBook OS 2.0 as I have that installed on my second PlayBook. This can only mean BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 is officially rolling out soon, at last!

RIM’s guide to a last minute Valentine’s Day!

I found this one a bit comical, but it could actually work out for you! RIM let us know about a last minute Valentine’s Day strategy that of course includes your BlackBerry smartphone. The strategy pretty much consists of applications and BBM messaging. Here it is:

Step 1: There’s nothing she’ll find more romantic than a surprise retreat to a romantic location. Book a quick getaway with the BlackBerry Travel app. Book transportation, lodging, etc., all while you’re pretending to be sending out a very important email during staff meeting.
Step 2: To locate a hot dinner spot at your destination, use the OpenTable app. OpenTable will show you real-time table availability at nearby restaurants. Refine your search by cuisine, price, or reservation time, and then make your reservation from your BlackBerry. If you’re feeling more adventurous , check out the101 Best Date Ideas

Step 3: Next up? The perfect gift. To narrow your options, use the Giftopia BlackBerry app where you can track her sizes, favorite colors and brands. BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing v3.0 goes official in the US, Canada & UK

RIM officially released BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing v3.0 today in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. For those unaware of this application, it’s designed to make joining and schedule conference calls easy. Key features include:

Join Now Button– The BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing app adds a button to calendar reminders on your BlackBerry smartphone that can dial you in to a call with one click. If the invite includes multiple dial-in numbers for different locations, the app can choose the most appropriate one for you (within Canada, the US and the UK only).

Reconnect – Reconnect with one click if you’re disconnected or need to drop off a conference call.

Easy Conference Scheduling – You can schedule a conference call complete with conference bridge details directly from the BlackBerry Calendar in an easy two-step process. To enable this capability, you can set your conference call profile once in the BlackBerry Mobile Conferencing app, including dial-in numbers and access codes, and then simply add the profile as part of the calendar invitation. (The moderator code is kept hidden from participants in the calendar invitation.) Many of the leading audio conferencing systems are supported.

Optimal Conference Call Number Selection – If multiple dial-in numbers are provided to accommodate participants in different regions, the application can automatically choose an optimal number to use, such as using the local number if you’re within the local calling area rather than a toll-free number; or a toll-free number if the dial-in number would otherwise be long distance. You can also select or modify a specific dial-in number manually.

Convert an email to a meeting invite – Help put an end to long email threads by scheduling a conference call with email participants with just a few clicks. The sender and recipients of the email are included as meeting attendees, the email subject becomes your meeting subject and part of the email message is copied into your invite automatically. Just add your conference call details from a stored profile, click send and you’re set.

Get on Pingr back on your BlackBerry!

We have written about PINGR disappearing from BlackBerry App World last November; and it looked like RIM had removed the app. Assuming that this app was removed for how annoying it could be, I was devastated, especially since I had paid $0.99 for the app that I could no longer use.

On Twitter earlier this morning I saw a tweet from @kyleizwany had posted how to get PINGR on your BlackBerry, and instructions for using PINGR since you can’t connect it to BBM! With PINGR you can send lots of pings to your BBM contacts. It doesn’t matter if you are trying to be annoying or get in touch with a contact.

Check out how to use the app:

Launch the PINGR!!! application
Then its time to change the setting.
PING gap (ms) :- You can just leave it as 500
Number of PINGs :- Its up to you 10 or 50 mybe?
Once all setting is done. Hit the Send PING!!! button and quickly return to BBM and choose the contact you wish to Ping!!!

SMS Bridge Gets Another Update- Now includes auto-restart feature

We first told you about SMS Bridge back in August, and its ability to bridge your text messages to your BlackBerry PlayBook. Over the months we have watch this app add some really cool features, and with SMS Bridges latest update to version 13.18 it adds an auto-restart feature. When your BlackBerry smartphone reboots it automatically turns SMS Bridge on, so for those who always keeps their BlackBerry bridged this is a great feature for you. Gameloft updates N.O.V.A. 2 HD, Let’s Golf 2 HD & UNO HD to v2.0 for BlackBerry PlayBook

There doesn’t seem to be any change logs here, but Gameloft has gone ahead and updated some of its popular BlackBerry PlayBook games including N.O.V.A. 2 HD, Let’s Golf 2 HD and UNO HD. All three of these games have been updated to version 2.0. Perhaps this update is for BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0, although the games seem to be working fine on the beta. Either way, the updates are in App World. Grab them!
