May, May, May.  A lot is happening in May with RIM.  We have the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 and Bold 9650 launching and now something a little more just to spice things up.  One of our buddies over at T-Mobile sent me this screenshot showing that the BlackBerry Curve 8520 will be launching May 19th in a fuchsia red color.  In the image it looks kind of purple-ish but it’s got to be some shade of red.  It’s not as exciting news as seeing other BlackBerry models hit the streets, but this does show that RIM is not close to ending the life of the Curve 8520 for a little while.

Wow, didn’t the BlackBerry Curve 8520 release oh so long ago? It sure did.  Yes, there are other Canadian carriers who have the BlackBerry Curve 8520, but other than being branded, Fido will offer better pricing for their products and services.  Who’s their real competition here? From the look of it, Fido is looking to compete with Virgin Mobile to get its BlackBerry customers.

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 went on a tour releasing in many countries worldwide.  It originated in the US with T-Mobile then rapidly branched off to carriers all over.  Now the BlackBerry Curve 8520 has taken its toll to Russia as MTS will start to carry it. “MTS strives to offer its customers the most compelling products on the market and with the new BlackBerry Curve 8520 smartphone, we are broadening the range of BlackBerry smartphones with more choices for our customers. We are delighted to offer our customers this important addition to the BlackBerry smartphone portfolio, which will enable MTS customers to enjoy many work and lifestyle benefits,” said Mikhail Gerchuk, vice president, commercial affairs, MTS.  Continue reading for the full press release from RIM.

We’re starting to see the BlackBerry Curve 8520 appear on display showcases now, rather than just back shelves until the release date.  A few days ago, the devices were stocked up silently in the back of AT&T retail stores.  Now the device is being displayed out with the rest of the Berry family so open and publicly.  The folks over at CrackBerry spotted that the 8520 is also available on the AT&T website as well which starts to ring up some baffling questions.  So any way, the device has quite a great launch as you won’t have to wait for prices to go down!  That’s right, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 is being offered for FREE after a mail-in rebate.  So the up front costs? Dish out $100 to the sales rep at AT&T and you will be handed a mail-in rebate form.  We asked the reps if any of the 15 devices came in different colors, but it looks like black is the color of the moment for now.

The time has come, as AT&T finally gets in with the 85xx series BlackBerry Curve.  First we saw it hit T-Mobile with the 8520, then Verizon announced it with the 8530, and now AT&T wants in on the action, announcing the 8520.  Don’t expect 3G and GPS as Verizon’s 8530 provides.  Look at it more as an exact replica of T-Mobile’s 8520 which is strictly WiFi running on the EDGE network.  The device will run you $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate.  Continue reading to check out the full press release.

In the spirit for Halloween?  For starters, you need to get your BlackBerry equipped with a Halloween theme, but not just any.  The HDD Halloween theme by Hedone Designs is quite unique.  It isn’t your average theme where wallpapers and icons get changed alone.  This theme as a whole provides a new experience on your BlackBerry that you never had before. If you continue reading, you’ll see the unique way the icons are placed including the battery and signal meter.  It isn’t your average style you’re used to as we warned you before.

We’re used to 1 on 1 comparison videos, or just simple single device reviews.  All in one shot, you can see almost every major BlackBerry device get compared to the other.  The BlackBerry Guy has been nice enough to provide this great video comparing the BlackBerry 8520, 8900, 9000, 9530, 9630, and 8330 all in one video!  Grab some popcorn and get comfortable for this one.

tmonews8520

TmoNews got a screenshot of a flyer for T-Mobile displaying an all white BlackBerry 8520, which I am not to fond of.  Not to say that the term “BlackBerry” lost its meaning in this one, but it just looks to G1-ish.  It’s just another change in the BlackBerry market we will all get used to and then it won’t be such a big deal.  Who remembers the switch from the scroll whell to the trackball?  As you all know this one is making the switch as well as it has the new optical trackpad navigation.  The main purpose of this device seems to be an entry level BlackBerry device, cheap for everyone to purchase, and a definite step into the BlackBerry door.  So far we had seen it in black color in all the screenshots, and here we see it in white for the T-Mobile slide.  Will it come in both white and black? Just white? Just black and this image just for show? Who knows.
