Originally, the BlackBerry Curve 8530 from Boost Mobile was tagged at $249.99 to purchase. We got the word from Engadget that Boost has permanently dropped the price down to $199.99 making it even more affordable. At $60 a month for unlimited voice, text and mobile data, you can’t really go wrong with it. I think it’s one of the best prepaid BlackBerry services we currently have in the United States, as T-Mobile has been on that same action lately, but not at $60. So if you’re looking to get into prepaid BlackBerry, definitely check out the Boost Mobile BlackBerry Curve 8530.
The BlackBerry Curve 8530 isn’t the latest from the Curve family, and as you know by now it does not support BlackBerry 6 OS. In any case, it’s a good starter edition BlackBerry for those just getting in the game.

It doesn’t look like BlackBerry 6 yet for the BlackBerry Bold 9650. All three devices: the Bold 9650, Tour 9630, and Curve 8530 are all getting official updates from Verizon Wireless today according to a tip from PhoneScoop. The updates will be providing “enhancements” to the device whatever that means – hopefully will make things move a bit faster on the OS. It is expected to be at 6PM eastern time, so don’t keep checking for updates all day long until then.

Boost Mobile just got its 3G fix with the “all new” BlackBerry Curve 8530 now available. I know it’s pretty much not a big deal to a lot of you out there, but it definitely stands for something when it comes to prepaid BlackBerry smartphones in the United States. Verizon has unleashed the lastest version of OS 5.0 earlier today for the BlackBerry Curve 8530. I just booted up my good ol’ lavender 8530 and found a new update available, after updating it out of .331 this weekend. It’s available OTA and desktop download. Head over to Wireless Update and download from there or hit the link below to download.

Back in August, this same OS was leaked out in the wild, but it looks like it has been made official over the weekend by U.S. Cellular. So for all you BlackBerry Curve 8530 users, here’s the latest update for your device.

A month ago we let you know about the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 and Curve 8530 getting in the EOL (end of life). At that time we thought the dates were set to August but it looks like they are split between September and October instead. PhoneDog has posted a screenshot showing the specific dates they’ll be shutdown for good.
- BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 – 10/10/2010
- BlackBerry Curve 8530 – 9/16/2010
So the BlackBerry Storm 3 or as many are calling it the “Storm refresh” has been rumored to hit Verizon in October, just as the original Storm 2 9550 is expected to shutdown for good.

MetroPCS has just put out the latest Curve 8530 OS ranked at 5.0.0.847. I don’t recall any other major OS updates from the carrier on this device, but they did recently launch it, even though other carriers such as Verizon will be dropping it this month for the “bigger and better” Curve 9330. So if you’re on MetroPCS you can hit the link below to download it officially on your device. Enjoy.
