Wow. So this is the new BlackBerry Bold we’ve been hearing about. The best thing about this is that it is indeed a QWERTY non-touch screen with OS 6.0. This is the first device we see in that screen resolution not touch screen but with the new OS. So what do we know about this so far? It has 512MB under the hood for sure. Other than that we don’t know anything at all yet. So is this the rumored 9700a we had for awhile?
As you all know by know the 9670 does have OS 6.0 on it as well. But seeing the Bold 9780 have it is very “heartwarming” for many as none of us ever saw the new OS on a smaller screen 480 x 360 resolution. There’s a lot of high excitement for this device coming out now, but at the same time it discourages the thought of having OS 6.0 on a Bold 9700.

The folks over at BBLeaks got some interesting information on a codename Onyx Delta with a number of 9700a. Now for those who don’t remember, the 9700a model number was spotted a few times within BlackBerry App World sales and many assumed it would be the slider device which is formerly known as the BlackBerry Bold 9800. As LouiV mentions, this is the first time RIM uses a codename twice as the original Bold 9700 was titled the Onyx for awhile.
So far, here are the specs rumored for the Onyx Delta 9700a:
- 5MP camera
- 512 MB RAM
- OS 6.0 (BlackBerry 6)
- New webkit browser
As some folks at WES 2010 said that BlackBerry 6 would be compatible with the Bold 9700, we’re a bit shaky about it as it sports only 256MB of RAM. Then again the Pearl 9100 has just rolled out with the same memory and is getting BlackBerry 6 also, but perhaps we’ll see a “lighter” or “optimized” version on it. So as of now, these are rumors and we don’t know what can or can’t be true at this point, but we thought to share the tip with you folks as well.
