For those of you who are familiar with a card game called Spit, also known as Speed will love this news. For those of you not familiar with this game it is very simple. Move as fast as possible to get rid of your cards by following a numerical sequence.

I stumbled across Spit while browsing App World on my PlayBook. After downloading the game I realized it was a ported app, and to my surprise it looks pretty good, and flows nicely. The game is very simple to pick up and understand, and the options allow you to choose how fast the computer responds to the game. You can pick this game up for $0.99 in App World for your PlayBook. Check out the link below.

Dolphin Browser is a popular web browsing application for Android which has recently been ported over to the BlackBerry PlayBook. We have seen third party web browsers in BlackBerry App World for the PlayBook in the past, but nothing eye catching enough to use as a secondary browser really.  Dolphin may not be an exact alternative browser, but it’s definitely cool to try out as it sports nice features such as tabbed browsing like Google Chrome.  The application description is unfortunately very pro “download this app now” as it should have been modified for BlackBerry App World to begin with.  Dolphin Browser is free to download from BlackBerry App World.

This was a big question at BlackBerry DevCon 2010.  Would ported Android apps on the BlackBerry PlayBook support the same ad services they had on Android devices?  RIM answers yes, they will support it.  But those ported Android applications which work in App Player (PlayBook’s Android App Player) won’t support BlackBerry ad services.  It’s not much of a downside since Android developers will still monetize on their ported over apps.  The BlackBerry ad service will be for actual BlackBerry applications, rather than ported apps.

With BBM being updated to v6.1.0.49 it brings a long some new features such as supporting animated avatars, and longer status updates it brings to mind something else I would like to see come to BBM.  Themes are great as is, and are very popular among BlackBerry users.  We’ve seen in the recent BlackBerry Porsche P’9981 theme that the media player can be themed.  How about other apps like BBM?

Browsing via BlackBerry? Click here to view video

Rooting the BlackBerry PlayBook and adding Android Market to it has been pretty trendy since the first Dingleberry root released.  BerryReview spotted a cool video showing how it’s all done for those who need it done visually to implement it rather than read a list of instructions.  The whole operation is a bit advanced, so if you decide to please do so at your own risk.
