Verizon recently rolled out a new update for the BlackBerry Bold 9650.  Of course no OS 7 love since it is an older BlackBerry device.  This update is OS 6.0.0.719, and hopefully decent for those not satisfied with the current OS on their Bold 9650.  You can download it officially from Verizon’s website.

The BlackBerry Bold 9650 just got an update today from Sprint to OS 6.0.0.706. Although we have OS 7 devices among us, the Bold 9650 still holds its popularity among CDMA users and of course still gets support. Not sure what’s good and what isn’t in this build, but if you spot anything let us know!

Sprint is doing away with the BlackBerry Bold 9650, Style 9670 and Curve 3G.  So what’s to replace them now? It looks like the BlackBerry Bold 9900 will replace the Bold 9650, Curve 9350 to replace the Curve 3G 9330, and Torch 9850 to replace the Style 9670.

Originally OS 6.0.0.600 was a leaked OS with no carrier attached, and now it looks like carriers are starting to pick it up.  Sprint isn’t the first, but they’ve got it officially available for the BlackBerry Bold 9650.  As far as the leaked builds of .600 go, it seems to work a lot more stable than other builds. So if you have a 9650 on hand, give it a try.

Both the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 got OS updates today officially from Verizon.  They have already been bumped up to OS 6.0, but this is the first update they get since switched over.  This is OS 6.0.0.524, not the latest OS build we’ve seen, but it is official for those scared to explore further.

It looks like US Cellular has put out a memo including some end of life devices and has a secondary list with dates as soon as September.  Two BlackBerry devices make way – Bold 9650 and Curve 9330.  Both of these devices aren’t really “outdated” if we think about it.  After all, they’re just getting OS 6.0 officially too.  September isn’t so close now, but it’s interesting to see that the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 had a really short lived life.  As for the BlackBerry Bold 9650, I think we had enough with it, and it’s time to move forward to bigger and better devices such as the Bold Touch.

The BlackBerry Bold 9650 doesn’t seem to be featured that often in BlackBerry commercials.  What seem to be seeing the most of is the BlackBerry Torch 9800.  So here we get to see how a choirmaster uses the Bold 9650 for getting musical notes and enjoying the emailing and BBM features as well.  Hit the jump for the full clip.

Last we heard from the BlackBerry Bold 9650 OS was Verizon’s big debut which many were waiting for to OS version 6.0.0.431, and now we have a newer leak 6.0.0.466.  It’s still hot and fresh so there’s no telling on the ups and downs in this build, but feel free to check it out – two download mirrors below.
