What a surprise this is.  AT&T is usually the last at launching OS updates as the BlackBerry Bold 9000 got OS 5.0 officially well after the device died out.  Previously the BlackBerry Torch 9800 received this same update, and now the Bold 9700 gets the same fix as well.  It’s available over the air on via Wireless Update or online where you can install through Desktop Manager.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 follows right behind the Torch today as far as leaks go.  This is OS 6.0.0.499 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700, the highest version OS leak we’ve seen yet.  I hope we get some more .499′s for other devices as well, but I guess the Bold 9700 deserves it with all the memory leaks its been having with 6.0.  Here’s a few download links to grab a copy from:

First BGR got a hat tip about OS 6.0 being available for T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700 users.  Then Kal let me know that the update was available when he connected to Desktop Manager.  So it’s currently being pushed out for now, but remains unannounced from T-Mobile as of now.  There is no OTA update in place yet, but I’m sure it will be up momentarily.  Keep your eyes open for it, or just connect your BlackBerry to Desktop Manager to get BlackBerry 6 OS today officially from T-Mobile.

Not a big deal to us anymore since carriers all over have put out official OS 6.0 updates for both the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300, but there’s still a whole crowd who waits for the official to update.  Jon got the word from a T-Mobile BlackBerry representative which claimed that T-Mobile is working on bringing an official 6.0 release for both devices within the next 30 days.  All I have to say is that it’s about time.  Let’s hope they stick to it, and do launch it in that timely fashion.

Here’s some love for you BlackBerry Bold 9700 users.  It’s surprising that to see all the complaints around the blogs and forums about memory leaks and issues with BlackBerry 6 on the Bold 9700.  We’re hoping for a better stable build to come along, hopefully this one addresses some.  Here’s OS 6.0.0.461 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700.
