BlackBerry DevCon 2011 was full of lots of application demonstrations on the BlackBerry PlayBook. More or so we saw games from other platforms work great on the PlayBook. One of the great examples was BackBreaker. BackBreaker is a really popular game for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Android, and iOS. It’s become really popular on mobiles over the last year too with its addictive game play. Now we see it coming to the BlackBerry PlayBook, but teased at first in front of a live audience at DevCon. Check out the clip above to see how smooth it works on the PlayBook.

Here’s a clip that came up yesterday during the DevCon keynote exemplifying how smooth gaming is on the BlackBerry PlayBook. You may notice some of the games which include Dead Space, Let’s Golf 2, ToFu, and more. As you already know, the game’s are still rolling out as we speak and there’s a lot more in store over the next few months.

At the BlackBerry DevCon keynote yesterday we were introduced to Cascades for developers to use for UI development in their applications. RIM has posted up a nice clip demonstrating the power of Cascades and exemplify the power within applications that have used it.

There’s tons of game talk on the BlackBerry PlayBook. We previously showed you the hands on for Tomb Raider on the BlackBerry PlayBook which was ported over from another platform. RIM showed off Cut The Rope for BlackBerry PlayBook as well. Cut The Rope is a very popular game from Rovio Mobile, makers of Angry Birds. Seeing it on the PlayBook is a pretty big deal and created lots of excitement among us all during the keynote. The game runs just as good as any other platform here. No signs of it available yet, but we hope to see this hit the App World shelves soon!

One of the coolest demonstrations we saw today was HTML5 applications running on the BlackBerry PlayBook. As you already know, the web browser on the PlayBook is the best web experience you can get on any tablet available. So here we get to see an application running via HTML5, and then another web application strictly through the web browser that still provides an excellent app experience.

BlackBerry Jam is a commitment to working closely with developers, and to provide them with the tools and programs that they need to be a success. Within the BlackBerry Jam community there will be important information and gatherings such as hackathons that RIM has been hosting. Which they just finished their fourth successful hackathon here in San Francisco. BlackBerry Jam is committed to focus on how they can collaborate, listen to the feedback that the community provides, to find new ways to evolve tools, and build a better support system for the development community.

We got to see a bunch of new applications ported over to the BlackBerry PlayBook. One of them was Tomb Raider in the beginning of the DevCon keynote. It was really fascinating to see how smooth the game worked and how responsive the on screen controls were. This is one of many game examples of what’s coming to the PlayBook.

During BlackBerry DevCon keynote, RIM officially announced the availability of the Android app repackaging tool for the BlackBerry PlayBook officially available. The new BlackBerry Runtime allows you to run Android applications on the BlackBerry PlayBook, so now this is a tool that allows you to port it over. There’s an App Express station setup here at DevCon but you can alternatively do it yourself if your up for it by downloadin the tools.

The Astonishing Tribe (TAT) demoed some applications for the future of BlackBerry Tablet OS which is on the BlackBerry PlayBook and will be BBX in the future here at the DevCon keynote. The contacts application gives you quite a bit of info about who you have there including demographics, topics and more. As for the photos app, well it speaks for itself. Check out the video!

In addition, RIM announced a series of developer tool updates, including WebWorks for BlackBerry smartphones and tablets, the Native SDK for the BlackBerry PlayBook and a developer beta of BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 with support for running Android applications. RIM also provided direction for developers on how to best develop and monetize their BlackBerry applications for today and for the future.
