The BlackBerry Storm 3 is a device that was quite confusing for about a year now since we never were able to keep up with RIM on seeing what exactly they had in mind to do with it.  We even saw Storm 2 refreshes hit presentations but the idea seemed to get scrapped after a while.  Then just recently, the picture got clearer and we started seeing the BlackBerry Monza which T-Mobile has stated to carry and Monaco which is the CDMA version.  Now we see the BlackBerry 9850, which sports a higher screen resolution than what we’ve seen with the Torch 2, which leaves us assuming it is the Storm 3 Monza/Monaco.  Here are the specs we spotted in the UAProf doc:

  • 480×800 screen resolution
  • OS 6.1
  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE
  • CDMA/EVDO

So it’s significantly higher in resolution and we see a confirmation of CDMA/EVDO in the bunch.  The BlackBerry Storm 3 got a small video teaser recently which didn’t impress many, but we have to keep in mind that it’s still an unreleased device with hopefully an early release OS.

We knew Verizon would be in line for another BlackBerry, but there has been such a gray area as to what was going on with the Storm for big red.  In the leaked video we just posted of the BlackBerry Storm 3 Monaco, we see that the device is Verizon branded right on the back.  So we’re past the beginning stages of testing the device and hopefully will see this device hit shelves soon enough.

Anyone impressed by it though? The OS still seemed sluggish and I just don’t get it.  I really don’t want it the Storm 3 Monaco come to life at all if this is how the OS is going to perform.  What happened to all these enhanced specs we were supposed to see? Our excitement went towards faster processors which called for faster OS movement.  Not really seeing it here folks but hoping the final release is better.

All we’ve had so far on the BlackBerry Storm 3 was details on it coming to T-Mobile the other night, and the leaked roadmap for CDMA BlackBerry smartphones coming in 2011.  This is the first time we see the BlackBerry Storm 3 in live, as the folks over at T-Mobile only showed the device off in slides (was supposedly the same 3D renders we saw).  So let us know what you guys think on this one.  I’m not so sure how long this video will remain live, so watch it while it’s here.  What’s your reaction to the device? I’m disappointed.

Ok so here we go.  We let you know about T-Mobile holding a “See BlackBerry Different” event for employees and we weren’t quite sure what would be displayed.  For starters, the carrier is expected to have the BlackBerry PlayBook, offering the WiFi model only with no 3G/4G model in talks (according to the event).  PlayBooks were displayed all around the exhibit for employees to finger for a bit before the presentation started.

This one’s up in the air as a rumor, but Simon over at IntoMobile heard from some sources about the BlackBerry Bold Touch (codename Montana), and the BlackBerry Storm 3 (codename Monaco) launching for Sprint by the end of quarter 2 this year.  According the the leaked CDMA BlackBerry roadmap for 2011 that we saw last week, both of these devices are scheduled for Q3 this year, but the rumor surfaced now suggests end of Q2.  So it’s pretty much borderline to be between Q2 and Q3, but it’s good news in general that Sprint will be getting both of these devices.

Just when we thought the leakage was over, more has rolled in.  This one’s the device many have been waiting for as it’s been such a gray area for months and months.  The code name is Monaco but we’re still referring to it as the BlackBerry Storm 3 until RIM makes some official announcements.  Hit the jump for the full specs on the device and more.

A new rumor is now floating around from the folks over at N4BB talking about a BlackBerry Monaco, which is expected to be the BlackBerry Storm 3 replacement.  The Monaco is expected to rock a 3.7 inch touchscreen, trackpad, 512MB of memory, BlackBerry 6 OS (most likely 6.1),  and a “possible” 1GHz processor.  RIM is already up to 800MHz at the moment with the leaked BlackBerry Apollo we saw today, so maybe 200 more megahertz is what we’ll be getting next.

It looks like we’re back on to the BlackBerry Storm 3 which seems to be a hell of a confusing device to follow up with news, updates, and leaks on.  There’s been so much circulating, some internal notes of cancellation circled around, and questionable images.  BBLeaks rounded up some specs leaked from some sources bunched together.

  • Display:  3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors

  • Optical trackpad
  • Ringtones: MP3, WAV ringtones

According to this screenshot from PhoneArena, the BlackBerry Storm 3 is still in play.  There’s no telling what the whol cancellation rumors were all about or how old/new these screenshots are but it is very iffy.  If rumors hold true and the Storm 3 is meant to be (that rhymes), then we should be seeing it sometime in November from Verizon Wireless.  This screenshot above comes from the Cellebrite which is what Verizon uses to transfer address books from device to device.
