The BlackBerry Tour 9630 follows the lead of the Storm 9530 with the same OS leak at the same moment.  This one is also 5.0.0.1041, being the latest unofficial OS for the Tour.  On a quick side note, one of the last Tour OS updates we posted up, I did recall seeing some 6.0 release date questions in the comments.  To quickly take care of that, there is no 6.0 for the Tour so stick with these later builds of 5.0 to stay up to date.

It doesn’t look like BlackBerry 6 yet for the BlackBerry Bold 9650.  All three devices: the Bold 9650, Tour 9630, and Curve 8530 are all getting official updates from Verizon Wireless today according to a tip from PhoneScoop.  The updates will be providing “enhancements” to the device whatever that means – hopefully will make things move a bit faster on the OS.  It is expected to be at 6PM eastern time, so don’t keep checking for updates all day long until then.

Here’s another rumor from Engadget indicating that an update of some sort will be coming to the BlackBerry Tour 9630, Bold 9650, and Curve 3G.  We already know that the Tour is not getting BlackBerry 6 at all, so the update could be just some bug fixes.

As for the Bold 9650 and Curve 3G, are we seeing BlackBerry 6 come to life for them officially? Perhaps, but they could also just be some fixes as well.  All these updates are happening this month of October if the rumors are true so stay tuned to see what big red has to put out.

We knew that already.  Of course the BlackBerry Bold 9650 replaced the Tour 9630 but we had to see it in clear ink that it was going and never coming back.  There’s a few other devices on the list, but the Tour is the only Berry on there.  So there you have it.  The Tour 9630 is no more.  Anyone caring for it?

It was nice to see more than expected BlackBerry recognition at the Gizmodo Gallery yesterday.  The Microsoft barcode scanning was incredible to begin with as many folks found it oh so very handy.  From the various mobile phones that were displayed, the BlackBerry Tour had its beautiful showcase on one of the tables where Gizmodo fans were allowed to try the device hands on and ask questions about it as well.  The BlackBerry Tour 9630 is a Verizon Wireless device which also made its big debut side by side with Sprint.  Currently it has been rated the best smartphone for travel as it will work on any network in the world both GSM and CDMA.

Earlier today, PCWorld emphasizes that the BlackBerry Tour 9630 is the best smartphone you can possibly have as an international traveler.  So what’s key about this BlackBerry over any other?  The obvious feature of having CDMA and GSM capability in one is a huge factor.  There are countries supporting both features, so having a device that will support both networks comes very convenient.  Besides that, you have every function of a BlackBerry, which we don’t have to go through as you all own them and know what you are capable of doing with those bad boys.  At $200 with a contract, you really can’t get a better deal for a phone this convenient.

Plazmic 4.7 finally got an update patch enabling the creation of BlackBerry Tour 9630 and BlackBerry Curve 8520 themes.  The 8520 users did not have to wait as long as the poor Verizon customers using the Tour did, but it was definitely a good thing they both released together in one patch.  Prepare for a whole new generation of themes for these new devices.
