The BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380 both were announced yesterday officially by RIM. It looks like Telus is up to picking up both devices. As far as pricing goes, the Bold 9790 will be $129.99 on a 3 year, $379.99 on a 2 year, and $429.99 on a 1 year. To buy the device outright with no contract it’s $479.99. You can check out the Bold 9790 on the Telus website to get a nice 360 of the device and to updated when it’s available.
For the Curve 9380, expect to pay $49.99 on a 3 year, $269.99 on a 2 year, $319.99 on a 1 year, and $369.99 with no contract.

The BlackBerry Curve 9380 is already heading to carriers, starting with Bell which has internally noted they are launching it on November 28th. The Curve 9380 is the first all touchscreen device in the Curve family offering lower end specs than what we currently have, sort of. It gets an 800MHz processor, OS 7, 480 x 360 screen resolution, and NFC capability which devices such as the Torch lack. There’s no pricing details just yet. RIM officially announced the Curve 9380 yesterday, so it’s just about right to see carriers announce carrying it anytime now.

Over the last several weeks, we saw a promotional limited time sale for BlackBerry PlayBook tablets including the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB starting at $299.99. The prices are back to their normal $499.99 starting price again. According to an internal document over at Telus, the 16GB BlackBerry PlayBook is set to be discontinued on November 8th. There’s no presence of the 32GB and 64GB models now and we do know that RIM has plans on releasing an LTE model in the second half of 2011. This is a Telus internal document, so it’s uncertain if this is indeed a discontinuation of the device, or just a note that the carrier won’t be providing that model any longer. What are your thoughts?

We’re hearing more about the BlackBerry Bold 9790 lately as we expect the launch to be any day now. Koodo Mobile is expected to pick up the device soon as well as we see leaked screenshots of their inventory system showing the device with a $400 price tag. The Bold 9790 is the same form factor as the 9700 series but with upped specs under the hood including a 1.2GHz processor, touchscreen, OS 7, and NFC capability.

Fido is usually known for picking up BlackBerry devices way later after launch. For instance, when everyone was walking around with the brank spankin’ new BlackBerry Bold 9000, you saw Fido “unveil” the BlackBerry Pearl 8100. Then later when the Curve 8520 was reaching its end of life, Fido picked it up in the device line up.
Now it looks like Fido stores are getting BlackBerry Curve 9360 cases in (OtterBox brand), but we still haven’t heard an official announcement of the device just yet, but it was spotted in some inventory screenshots some time ago. With that said, I think it’s safe to assume that the Curve 9360 should be hitting Fido shelves soon.
Pricing doesn’t seem to be available yet and a launch date is still vacant.

RIM along with Telus and Rogers were given Canada’s Top Employers for Young People award. These three companies made it in the top 100 organizations, so others are in as well. This is how they were judged and nominated. The companies were interviewed on topics including ability to attract people, tuition assistance, training, benefits and mentorship. RIM got chosen because of the free BlackBerrys they give out to all employees and the relaxing environment with casual dress code. Also they get onsite massage services and ice cream Fridays. Awesome. Is your company that sweet to you?

The Canadian Football League (CFL) has launched their official application on the BlackBerry PlayBook this past weekend. With the official CFL app, you can follow up on game dates, latest news, photos from the game, and more. You can tune into the social section of the app where you’ll be able to have conversations with other fans (and haters I’m sure).
