Poynt is definitely one of the best applications to have on BlackBerry in my opinion. When BlackBerry 6 launched, I was pleased to see how OS integrated Poynt was, especially with it included in the Universal Search. Over at CES, Poynt has been caught running on the latest and greatest from RIM – the BlackBerry PlayBook. The application is great, but may not be useful for those who go with the WiFi model PlayBook. You might want to pick up the BlackBerry 4G PlayBook from Sprint for that!

We’ve been wondering what BlackBerry would look like on the PlayBook for a while now, and we still haven’t seen much on it until now. The folks over at CrackBerry got a screenshot from an on-screen promotion that RIM had at CES 2011 which featured BlackBerry App World. There’s not a lot to see here, but we do get a little sense of the user interface and know for sure it’s nothing like the App World we’re acquainted with on our BlackBerry handhelds.

Well last year at CES, OtterBox has a new series in line, which we were thrown off by since it wasn’t for BlackBerry in the end. Today, OtterBox as announced at CES 2011 that they have a new series called Reflex and YES, BlackBerry devices are supported! The Reflex cases consist of two materials: polycarbonate and TPE rubber. It’s further explained in the press release after the jump. It looks like only the BlackBerry Curve 9300 and 8500 series have the spotlight on the Reflex series for now, but I’m sure more will surface in the future. You can head over to OtterBox to check them out. Be aware that these bad boys are not cheap. That’s $44.95 a piece coming in two color combos – black with gray and black with pink.

As you know, the BlackBerry PlayBook is exhibiting as we speak at CES 2011 in Vegas. RIM has made it possible for folks to touch and experience the device for a real hands-on experience, not like what we had at DEVCON 2010. So it looks like sites who have reviewed and gotten a chance to experience the PlayBook have more positive things to say, as any complaints really exist only because the tablets are still in beta. So here’s a quick round up of reviews and hands-on experiences for those of you interested in seeing what people think of the BlackBerry PlayBook.

Battery life on the BlackBerry PlayBook has been a huge debate over the last week or so. There were rumors flying back and forth saying that RIM was having battery life issues with the BlackBerry PlayBook, but they came back with a statement saying it was not true. Then another statement rolled out talking about how Adobe Flash will be killing the battery. A rep from RIM at CES 2011 has stated already that the PlayBook will get about 8 hours of battery life with usage. So there you have it, that’s the aim. Apple claims 10 hours of usage, but it’s never really a solid 10. So should we expect 5 or 6 hours from the PlayBook in reality?

Carrier News, General News »

Today is the first day of CES 2011, and RIM has already brought some exciting news to the table. All along we were wondering what carriers would be picking up the BlackBerry PlayBook. We were well aware at DEVCON 2010 that there would be WiFi models, and also 3G/4G models as well. Guesses going around aimed at AT&T, but we haven’t heard anything from them at all. It looks like Sprint will be carrying the BlackBerry PlayBook as soon as the summer. So it won’t be right on time with the launch of the PlayBook as we expect it to launch sooner than that. I think the most exciting aspect about this is 4G. We have never before been able to put the word “BlackBerry” and “4G” together before – until now. Check out more at www.sprint.com/4Gplaybook or hit the link below for the full press release from RIM and Sprint!

It’s that time of the year, and the Consumer Electronic Show starts up tomorrow. RIM is obviously there with a booth ready to show off their latest and greatest- the BlackBerry PlayBook. As seen in the image above, RIM is advertising the BlackBerry PlayBook big time as this is their main focus during the show. We’d love to hear more about QNX OS running on BlackBerry smartphones, but events like CES doesn’t seem like RIM’s cup of tea to debut things like that.
