Another update to the BlackBerry PlayBook root DingleBerry is now available. Included in this update is a downgrader which brings your PlayBook OS to an earlier version that can be rooted. Also there’s Hulu support so you can watch Hulu videos on your PlayBook browser once again.
There doesn’t seem to be a root available for the latest OS RIM has out for the BlackBerry PlayBook, so a downgrade is the only way to go for now.

There was speculations that maybe the latest BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 beta update would block out the Dingleberry root, but it looks like it does not according to Chris Wade who has confirmed on Twitter that it still is working! His tweet reads “RIM didn’t patch my dhcp exploit in 6149 so you can jailbreak by jailbreaking then upgrading. All firmwares are still jailbreakable.

With the latest Dingleberry root for the BlackBerry PlayBook, a developer has been able to get USB hosting working! So basically a USB dongle is inserted from the bottom micro USB port where a flash drive gets inserted and accessed right on the PlayBook. The demo we see is a video clip being played right off the flash drive with no issues or lags whatsoever. Pretty cool. Hit the jump for the full video

Rooting the BlackBerry PlayBook and adding Android Market to it has been pretty trendy since the first Dingleberry root released. BerryReview spotted a cool video showing how it’s all done for those who need it done visually to implement it rather than read a list of instructions. The whole operation is a bit advanced, so if you decide to please do so at your own risk.

Let the games begin. The BlackBerry PlayBook just updated today to fix up some security which would in best hopes avoid a jailbreak or root from occurring again. Only hours later, and we see the PlayBook has been rooted even with the latest OS! Chris Wade reported on Twitter that he was able to get in once again. This time it was done a different way, so RIM did patch up what they needed to before. Now it’s up for the next security fix which I’m sure RIM will release once they see a newer version of Dingleberry drops.

Research In Motion is obviously aware of this “Dingleberry” root that’s roaming around the web now available for download. It was bound to happen and the rooters even warned before hand that they would be exploiting the BlackBerry PlayBook. So here’s RIM’s official statement on the matter:
“RIM is aware of reports that a security researcher has released a tool designed to allow BlackBerry PlayBook users to jailbreak their tablet. RIM is following its standard security response process to investigate the functionality and impact of this tool and if needed, RIM will develop, test, and release a software update that is designed to minimize the potential adverse impact to our customers.”
With that said, we’ll be seeing an OS update for the tablet which will “help” eliminate exploiting roots. There’s no estimated time for the update yet, but keep your eyes open in Software Updates on the PlayBook.

The BlackBerry PlayBook root which is going by the name Dingleberry just got its own home. We’re promised that a root install would be coming out shortly, so the hackers have made a home base to get all that information.
Meanwhile, RIM is investigating the “root claims” as they are questioning whether or not it’s happening but we’ve already seen videos of it active. Seeing the home page surface only means we should be getting more updates on the PlayBook root soon. Is anyone going for it staying on the safe side with the original operating system?
