DropBox for BlackBerry is a great application for getting in touch with files you have stored on your cloud folder.  I have been using it since I had the BlackBerry Bold 9700, and as I upgraded devices, DropBox would always work better.  For example, I have a 2 hour film on my DropBox where I could not stream on my 9700, but on my Torch 9800 I was able to (sometimes needed WiFi).  So the application has been improving over time and now with OS 7 devices, we see it work even better.  The latest update for DropBox landed earlier this morning at version 1.0.55.  Here’s the full change log:

  • Save mail attachments to Dropbox
  • Protect your DropBox account with a passcode
  • Various bug fixes

Dropbox for BlackBerry is now supported on OS 7 devices!  With still many applications missing from the bunch, it’s nice to see developers moving their apps to OS 7, even if it’s at a slow pace.  Along with the OS 7 compatibility feature, we get new goodies including security password option and save email attachments to Dropbox feature.  Here’s the full change log:

Dropbox for BlackBerry got a small update to version 1.0.49.1.  Included in this update is the ability to view your favorite files, as this feature was completely missing before in the BlackBerry client.  Also the usual bug fixes which hopefully better your mobile Dropbox experience.  You can grab the update from App World free today.

Dropbox for BlackBerry got a bump up to version 1.0.39.34, bringing nothing but bug fixes probably.  We’re used to seeing long change logs from Dropbox but not this time unfortunately.  We do know that Dropbox had some internal issues the other day where accounts were accessible for a few hours.  As CrackBerry suggests, maybe this update is in relation to that but there is no real way to know for sure.  Either way, the updates up in App World.  Click the link below to download.

Usually I receive an email when Dropbox updates, but haven’t this time at all.  Tipster Sam S. let us know that Dropbox had an update to version 1.0.39.4, a small step from the previous 1.0.39.3 we saw not too long ago with a ton of bug fixes.  If any of you received an email with a change log, let us know and we’ll update our post.  Otherwise click the link below to download or update Dropbox on your BlackBerry.

Late last night, I got an email from Dropbox letting me know about Dropbox for BlackBerry getting an update again, but addressing bugs we were encountering with the last 1.0.39 update.  So here’s the full change log:

  • saving non-ascii texts results in garbled text
  • handling of edge cases when running out of space on sd card and in device memory
  • open-edit-upload usecase wasn’t working for devices with encryption enabled
  • share link freezes for some users
  • open-edit-upload usecase fails for files with non-ascii filenames
  • “would you like to allow logging” dialog shouldn’t appear on first launch
  • on rotatable devices, in image gallery, the displayed/cached image is smaller than screen size (shouldn’t happen)
  • app should ask for permissions in advance on first launch
  • app should support multiple third-party app associations for a given file type (e.g multiple pdf viewers)
  • music/video stops when screen fades out
  • user gets a “not enough room to write file” message when trying to open a file that’s already open in docs2go
  • uploading file changes for file stored in folder with non-ASCII characters can result in creation of damaged folder name with contents of a new file
  • user interface rotation glitches on some screens
  • BES permissions problems
  • resolve some chronic upload retry issues and related UI glitches
  • file browser lagginess when dealing with non-ASCII characters in file names
