fido curve 9360

Fido in Canada is known to carry BlackBerry smartphones way later after the device launches from the manufacturer.  This time around we’re surprised to see that the company has stepped up their game and launched the BlackBerry Curve 9360.  Ok so it’s a basic lower end BlackBerry smartphone, but is still a great device and carries a feature some other OS 7 devices don’t- NFC.  The BlackBerry Curve 9360 gets OS 7 preloaded, 800MHz, 5MP camera, 480 x 360 screen resolution with 3G and WiFi capability.  Fido is selling the device for only $30 on a 3 year contract.

Fido is usually known for picking up BlackBerry devices way later after launch.  For instance, when everyone was walking around with the brank spankin’ new BlackBerry Bold 9000, you saw Fido “unveil” the BlackBerry Pearl 8100.  Then later when the Curve 8520 was reaching its end of life, Fido picked it up in the device line up.

Now it looks like Fido stores are getting BlackBerry Curve 9360 cases in (OtterBox brand), but we still haven’t heard an official announcement of the device just yet, but it was spotted in some inventory screenshots some time ago. With that said, I think it’s safe to assume that the Curve 9360 should be hitting Fido shelves soon.

Pricing doesn’t seem to be available yet and a launch date is still vacant.

It’s a one day deal only, but for all you up in the north, Fido is putting out free Candian long distance calling for Valentine’s Day.  The motto reads “let them know love has no boundaries” which I feel fits the theme well.  BlackBerrys offered for Fido include the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 (which I doubt they actually sell anymore) and the BlackBerry Curve 8520, which launched a bit late to the carrier, but calls for a great and affordable device to have over a prepaid plan.

Wow.  No other carriers could get any rumors or confirmation of any kind on the release of a BlackBerry Pearl 9100.  We did just hear T-Mobile would rock it, but never had any solid proof.  So here’s a leaked screenshot via Mobile Syrup showing a BlackBerry Pearl 9100 coming May 4th 2010.  Either way, we are impressed with how far Fido has come.  At one point, they launched the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 way after the device expired (in my opinion), and recently got the Curve 8520.  Could we see other carriers hop on to this device before Fido?  That gives us a one month window to see what will happen.  I expect to see more on the Pearl 9100 at WES this year, which is at the end of April.  Perhaps we’ll see Fido branded devices.  Stay tuned for more, as the Pearl 9100 comes to our networks.

Fido has came through this time and launched the BlackBerry Curve 8520 officially.  Many of us weren’t expecting the day to come as the Curve 8900 was rumored to release for Fido, but never did.  We saw OS updates for the Fido 8520 release too, which was confusing to see before the release of the device. Fido came out with the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 a little over a year ago with BIS services, being the last carrier to ever get it.  Seeing the 8520 come to Fido is quite an improvement for the carrier as they aren’t so far behind any more.

blackberry-pearl fido

A few weeks ago, we covered about Fido getting their BlackBerry services back again.  Well they really did bring it back with the BlackBerry Pearl 8100, the first multimedia camera BlackBerry device.  Great phone, I would of suggested the 8110 or 8120 atleast..
