It’s been a while since we’ve seen anything from Opera as far as mobile web browsing goes.  It was definitely a good browser to equip back in the day before the native BlackBerry web browser took a huge jump ahead.  Either way, it’s still a good application and v6.5 gives you lowers the memory used with better network performance and even a counter for your data consumption for those who are on limited data plans.  Click the link below to download.

Opera Mini was always a nice mobile browser in my opinion.  Some things that bothered me about it was that it made itself default as soon as you installed it and it wasn’t so touchscreen friendly although they released a version that claimed itself to be at one point.  Ronen at BerryReview spotted that Opera Mini 6 is now available and put up a full change log with what new features are in this version.

BlackBerry App World has plenty to offer as far as mobile applications go.  We got the word that Opera has just launched its own Opera Mobile Store for BlackBerry, Android, and Symbian.  Appia is providing the backend solution for the store front which is accessible through your mobile browser.  I guess it’s a nice way to submit your applications into one app store which works for multiple platforms, but I’m sure we’ll bump into apps here and there that may not be supported across the board.

UPDATE: According to the comments we received, it looks like the app is in French and doesn’t support trackpad devices. Bit of a bummer but if anyone sees otherwise, drop a line!

So all of you who have been missing out on webkit action due to lack of BlackBerry 6 can now get in on it, sort of.  There’s been a leak of Opera Mini 5 for OS 5.0 devices which includes OS 6.0 webkit.  So enjoy using the web to its maximum potential now.  Hopefully the link is still good when you guys try downloading it, but if it’s down, it’s because it’s a leak (obviously).  It looks like this one’s a desktop download though and not an OTA.  If anyone feels like making one, let us know! So for now, download the files and upload them via BlackBerry Desktop Manager to put on your BlackBerrys.

I personally haven’t tried this one out yet, so if it comes up not working or working, let us know via Twitter or the comments below about your experiences.

Thanks Ehab for spotting this one!
