At launch, we were provided with Songza which was a pretty decent Android port for streaming music on BlackBerry 10. However what we all want are native music streaming apps to come over and today is the day! Slacker Radio is now available for BlackBerry 10 as of today and it looks good so far. A brand new UI for BlackBerry users making it easy to navigate through categories and music. It’s free to download in BlackBerry World so head over and grab it to get your music on.

For those of you who are big fans of screamo music or those of you who are music lovers and want to check out something different you have to check out Screamo Radio. For those who aren’t familiar with screamo it’s a music genre that came to being in the 90s; a mix between hardcore/punk and emo music.

Screamo Radio is an app that is available on the other markets such as Apple’s iPhone and on Android, so it’s great to see that they haven’t forgotten about BlackBerry. Screamo Radio App is exactly what it says it is, with features such as streaming music, loading the last 10 songs that has played, sharing your favorite songs via twitter with others, requesting songs you would like played. This is a great app. One of my favorite features is the ability to set an alarm in which the app will stop. That way you don’t have to worry about it playing all night long while you’re asleep. The guys at Screamo Radio App are really looking to bring some even cool new updates to there app such as Music Trivia where you can win prizes.

So if you enjoy Screamo music and tired of other streaming radio apps playing what you like to hear grab Screamo Radio App Ad Free for $1.99. If you are one of those who want to try it out before you buy it, well you can grab the free version as well. So if you have a BlackBerry running OS 5.0+ just follow the links below.

Slacker Radio for BlackBerry smartphones just got updated yesterday in BlackBerry App World to version 4.1.22.  Although we couldn’t spot a change log, Bogizo let us know that the update included Ford Sync’s AppLink service which communicates with all new Ford vehicles.  I myself don’t drive a Ford but last year we got to test drive the 2010 Ford Fiesta and see what SYNC is all about.  So this update may not affect you but it’s always good to stay up to date as you never know what bug fixes this may take care of.

Slacker Radio has just updated to version 4.0 for BlackBerry and other platforms.  With Slacker Radio v4.0, you can get Slacker on Demand which will run you $9.99 a month, rather than the $3.99 you would pay for the regular services.  So by on demand, that means you’ll be able to pull up any song, artist or album anytime you want and hear exactly what you want rather than just a streaming radio station.  Pretty cool right? Hit the jump for the full list of features.

Since we got our hands on the Playbook here at PocketBerry last week, we’ve been trying to keep you informed and up to date with the unit as well as applications for it. One app that we’ve taken likening to which came preloaded with the device is the Slacker Radio app. As most of you know, Slacker Radio is one of the most popular streaming audio applications for blackberry and now that it is available for the PlayBook, I can see it being a regularly used app.

This is just awesome.  I’m currently a Pandora and Slacker user as I have stations set up on both that I like to listen to at different times.  I’d love an app where I can browse through multiple services in one interface.  There’s nothing on streaming the actual music all within the app, but you’ll be able to check out music all over.  Today RIM is launching BlackBerry Radio, a new application that will be available in BlackBerry Beta Zone later today.  BlackBerry Radio is an app that gives you all your favorite music in one app.  Features include:

  • Access popular internet and terrestrial radio services like Slacker, Pandora, Clear Channel, and Corus in one place
  • Quickly browse genre-based radio stations
  • Enjoy seamless integration with your BlackBerry smartphone for quick and easy access to BlackBerry radio partners and the Amazon MP3 storefront
  • Try premium radio apps within BlackBerry Radio for free
  • Just start rockin’! No set-up required

So I think it’s awesome being able to browse Slacker, Pandora, Clear Channel, and Corus all in one application.  BlackBerry Radio will be available in BlackBerry Beta Zone later today, so keep an eye out.

This news goes back from the 6th this month where Slacker has announced their services free for Canadians.  It originally launched in the US only, then to Canada, but was NOT free.  It did come with a teaser 30-day trial though.  Now Slacker has announced their services completely free for all Canada residents.  There is of course Slacker Radio Plus which is a premium service for everyone.  That service stands at CAD $3.99 per month.  Hit the jump for the full press release or head over to slacker.com from your BlackBerry to download today.

Slacker Radio is one of the most popular applications for streaming audio on BlackBerry, but some are just Pandora people and don’t let it go.  In any case, Slacker Radio just got an update today mainly addressing some bugs users were having.  Here are the main changes:

  • Fixed some errors in localization
  • Can’t shut down app from login screen
  • Allow user to remain in app after attempting to play news station after 14-day trial is over
  • Race condition on Storm if prefetch closes without buffering a full prefetch
  • Update lowres/hires switch to accommodate new devices
  • Other Misc Fixes

To get the latest update, point your BlackBerry Browser to slacker.com.
