I guess SocialScope is doing this as a result of yesterday’s UberTwitter ban from Twitter.  Yesterday we gave out five free SocialScope invites to our Twitter followers, and today ThugRockstar tweeted about SocialScope being open for invites yesterday.  So I went ahead to see if it was SocialScope was still giving out invites instantly and it looks like they are.  For all of you who don’t want to use Twitter for BlackBerry or other applications, check it out and you might like it.  I’m not sure how long SocialScope will be putting this out for, so do it while “supplies last.”

This I found quite interesting.  I was in the process of setting up the BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9100 to use for a few days and received an error while downloading SocialScope.  Immediately, I received an automated email from the SocialScope team telling how to fix this 907 error.  It’s quite simple and most of you if not all are going to do this on your own any way.  The message read:

We noticed you received a 907 error while trying to install SocialScope and would like to help. The error is caused by a bug in BlackBerry OS.  The good news is that it’s easy to fix:

  • 1) Delete SocialScope from your phone
  • 2) Take the battery out of your phone for a couple of minutes
  • 3) Redownload SocialScope from http://getsocialscope.com
  • 4) Smile

So yes it was pretty straight forward.  I just found it cool that they keep track of who has trouble downloading and immediately have emails sent out to help solve issues.

We tweeted earlier about this, but figured we’d post about it as well since a tweet doesn’t always suffice.  To get right to the point, SocialScope is now officially supported on BlackBerry 6 OS and the BlackBerry Torch 9800.  I have successfully had it working today on the Torch 9800, Curve 9330, and Bold 9650 all running a 6.0 OS.  Along with the new support, some new features have been added:

  • Swipe left and right to switch tabs
  • When reading a message swipe left and right to switch message
  • Double tap a tab icon to go to the top of the message list
  • Search twitter from your home screen through universal search
  • Go to your friend’s profiles from the home screen through universal search
  • Crazy fast scrolling
  • Super low battery usage

So if you have an account, just login and download it over the air or sign up to get a invite.

We’re happy that finally something has come out of SocialScope.  It’s been awhile and aggravating seeing your peers with different versions of SocialScope than what you have.  Some of you have SocialScope while others have SocialScope light.  Some folks received updates a few days ago, while others didn’t.  I could only imagine how many emails the SocialScope team received in regards to concerns.  Yes, it is a closed beta, but lots of Berry users are currently in on it, making it overwhelming to analyze each and every single account. In this forwarded note from the team, a lot of our shared questions have been addressed.  Hit the jump to check it out.

To clear out confusion for its customers, the folks over at SocialScope posted this very same header as seen in the picture for all their users.  This way it makes it clear that SocialScope is not the problem as Twitter is experience DDOS attack issues.  Yesterday we gave you the word about it starting off with Twitter, disabling many BlackBerry fanatics to “tweet” throughout the day.  Are you experiencing still experiencing Twitter issues?

For all those using SocialScope, it has gone through some great changes over the past few months.  Not only providing a whole new platform and feel to it, it also is getting less bugs, and a bunch of new little widgets like threaded tweeting.  It looks like it went ahead and updated today changing from only .36 to .40 but supposedly fixing bugs and adding new enhancements:

  • Enhancement: Facebook Picture posts allows viewing of whole album
  • Enhancement: Twitpic uses new full screen view
  • Enhancement: Spellcheck before send
  • Enhancement: Block/Unblock Twitter users
  • Fix: Replying causes shortcuts to trigger
  • Fix: Disappearing text while typing
  • Fix: Image resize issues in album view
  • Fix: Improved stability when viewing certain Facebook messages

To get the update, just open up your SocialScope app and you will be prompted for the new download.

socialscope-for-blackberry

For those of you who have SocialScope I thought I’d let you know that it has been updated to version 0.9.3.6. I know some people already knew this because the application is supposed to prompt you when its updated but I for one received no such thing. Even though I did for the last update?! Anyways here are a couple of the updates made:

• Fix: Improved Connection Stability

• Fix: Improved Posting Speed

For those of you who have not yet downloaded this application ill give you a quick run down of what its all about.

SocialScope is a brand new app that extends Twitter and Facebook functionality right to your BlackBerry. Simple enough right! It is going to most likely put all of those twitter applications to shame, twitterberry better step it up soon! In twitterberrys defense it kind of is better in the sense that it is more available (SocialScope is a closed beta and you need to sign up using your email to get an invite).

Anyways, if you want to update your version of SocialScope click HERE and sign in. If you do not yet have it click HERE and sign up!

Early this morning, SocialScope got a nice update to 0.9.3.1.  So what’s new in this update? There’s enhanced server architecture, more efficient network communications, and TwitPic posting has been enhanced and isn’t buggy when trying to open it.  Unfortunately SocialScope is still closed beta and is not available for public download just yet.  Don’t know what SocialScope is?  It is a social networking program for your Twitter and Facebook account in one platform.

Twitter has grown pretty big over the years as many people joining love to blog on it updating their statuses.  As addictive as it has become, there are of course Twitter clients to download for your BlackBerry smartphone to stay wired on it 24-7.  They all have the same functions for the most part, but they have created in a way that the user will pick and choose what they like best.

twitterberry-posting

We all know about TwitterBerry which has been the primary and most simple application for Twitter users.  The platform is very straight forward too.  As soon as you open the application, it says ” What are you doing?” Then below you have room to type away whatever you want to post on to your Twitter and click “Update” after being finished.  It also has the convenience of telling you how many characters you have left to type.  When clicking your Menu button in TwitterBerry, the options listed are: Update, Friends Timeline, Get Replies, Direct messages, Public Timeline, My Timeline, Get Friend List, Sent Direct Messages, & Configure.  All functionalities of PC-based Twitter exist here.

bbtweet

We then discovered another program called BBTweet, which is not as popular as TwitterBerry.  They advertise it as “Twitter for your BlackBerry without the text messaging bill.”  People still tend to use it though and it is in beta.  It regularly goes through your Twitter account to find new messages and puts them into your BlackBerry Messages folder.  Replying back and forth is really simple.  Its functionalities are just like the Twitter via SMS, except you do not pay for the SMS here, if you do not have unlimited text messaging in your plan.

Now we see the beta soft release of the all new SocialScope which will become the #1 Twitter client, if they keep it up that is.  Obtaining your own copy is by invitation only at the moment due to testing and glitches that already exist on there.  On this client, it supports both your Facebook and Twitter at the same time.  It is optional to not use on or the other, but it is very handy to be able to update your status once, and have it go on both clients.  There are other empty tabs available now so who knows what other functions shall be added.  I am personally using both TwitterBerry and SocialScope at the moment, love them both equally only because SocialScope is still in beta, and TwitterBerry has been made so simple to use.

Today we received our version of the all new still in production SocialScope application for BlackBerry version 0.9.2.7.  It currently has tabs for both Twitter and Facebook at the moment.  There are three other tabs: one with an “@” symbol, another with a chat box that looks like Instango’s icon, and the other one is a tab that controls both Twitter & Facebook in one screen.  At convenience, it has been mad easy to update your statuses on Facebook and Twitter from one single interface.  The layout is very clean and program is definitely responsive.  Many will drop their TwitterBerry and Facebook app in a heartbeat after seeing this application, forget about it.
