When OS 7.1.0.163 officially released by Sprint for the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and BlackBerry Torch 9850 last week, there were no desktop downloads available as it was only being pushed over the air to devices.  So if you had a CDMA Torch or Bold and wanted the OS, you couldn’t get it installed- until now!  Over the weekend I managed to download OS 7.right off the BlackBerry website to put it on my Verizon Bold 9930.  So feel free to pick it up for the Bold or Torch.  Keep in mind this is for CDMA users only!

Along with the BlackBerry Bold 9930, the BlackBerry Torch 9850 is also joining in on OS 7.1.  Both of these OS builds are being pushed over the air through Wireless Update on BlackBerry so you won’t be able to do a desktop download just yet.  The update is for Sprint devices only, but of course once that desktop download goes live you’ll be able to install on other CDMA Berrys as well.  As for those who are on Sprint Torches and Bolds, head over to Wireless Update and download away!

The BlackBerry Bold 9930 hasn’t been getting much love in the OS department. For months we’ve been seeing the GSM 9900 getting all the OS updates both officially and leaked. Now we have Sprint pushing out OS 7.1 to BlackBerry Bold 9930 users over the air. The desktop download isn’t available yet but I’m sure we’ll see it come soon enough. That way some of you Verizon users can get in on it! Tune into wireless updates and keep refreshing for the update.

The BlackBerry Curve 9330 and BlackBerry Style 9670 both got the same OS update yesterday from Sprint.  It’s been a while since we saw any update for the Style 9670, so it’s definitely a relief for those still on the device.  The Curve 9330 is also still getting updates and there’s definitely a bunch out there in people’s possessions too.  If you go ahead and download this OS, let us know of any changes you notice.

sprint blackberry curve 9360 tilt left

As always when a new BlackBerry drops, the PocketBerry Phone Store picks it up right away.  Yesterday Sprint officially announced the availability of the BlackBerry Curve 9350.  So today we have in our phone store the device available for the lowest rate you can get.  Sprint offers the Curve 9350 for $49.99 after rebates, but the PocketBerry Phone Store has it for $49.99 outright with no need to mail in any forms of rebate.  The deal pretty much speaks for itself.  We also have other devices including the Bold 9930.  Click the link below to check it out.

Sprint was the first in the United States to announced the new BlackBerry Curve, but ended up releasing it late due to some delays.  Today it has made its way available for only $49.99 after rebates.  The Curve 9350 is a great alternative to the Bold 9930, for those who don’t want to dish out 200 bucks especially.  Click the link below for more info!

We were supposed to have the BlackBerry Curve 9350 from Sprint already, but some delays occurred and the carrier decided to postpone it.  Now a new internal memo has emerged showing a launch date of October 2nd for the BlackBerry Curve 9350 and a few other devices (not BlackBerrys).  Pricing is set at $79.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate just like T-Mobile.

Does anyone recall the WiFi hot spot feature for OS 7 devices we’ve been teased about over the last year?  Well a screenshot above coming out of a Sprint memo clarifies that WiFi hot spot capability is coming to the Torch 9850.  It appears that the feature is written on the box of the device, but it isn’t yet capabile so the purpose of the memo was to inform employees that the feature is coming soon and that’s what they need to tell customers who purchase the device.  When will it be coming you ask? According to the memo, WiFi hot spot capability is due in fourth quarter this year.  I’m hoping this goes to all other devices as well but I easily see carriers blocking this one out if they can – especially AT&T who blocked out BlackBerry Bridge for the longest time then finally released it eliminating Bridge Browser.

When the new BlackBerry Curve was announced, Sprint was quick to announce that they would be carrying it and that it would be available as soon as September 9th.  Well just one day before launch, they announced on Twitter that the date has been “shifted” to October now.  Now specific date yet or reasons why but that’s the latest word.
